Gaming’s most lecherous protagonist is about to receive a facelift. Austin-based development studio Replay Games has announced plans to release an HD re-mastered version of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. The remake is scheduled to launch for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, XBLA, PSN, On-Live, and Steam. If it’s successful, Replay Games plans to give the HD treatment to the other Leisure Suit Larry titles.
In addition to the remake, the studio is also working directly with series creator Al Lowe, who has given his blessing to the project. Replay Games and Lowe have plans for brand new Larry adventures scheduled for early 2012 to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary. “I’m overjoyed to see Larry released from his digital dungeon after all this time, and be placed in the hands of someone who understands him and wants to see him, brought back to the forefront by people who love him and understand him,” said Lowe in an interview with EGM.
News of the return of Leisure Suit Larry follows the release of several poorly received releases starring Larry’s lesser known and less liked nephew, Larry Lovage. If you count yourself as a member of the Al Lowe camp – and truly love and understand the complexity of Larry Laffer, today is a great day.
