This atmospheric example of shadowy gothic from 1960 (also released under the title Black Sunday ) is probably Italian horror maestro Mario Bava’s finest work. A 17 th century witch swears vengeance when she is burnt at the stake; two centuries later, her corpse is reanimated… The ethereally beautiful Barbara Steele plays both the undead witch and her innocent descendant.
