Gina Carano reveals Fast & Furious ignorance

In Total Film magazine issue 206, we motor onto the set of Fast & Furious 6 to get the lowdown on the juggernaut of a franchise.

You can read the full feature inside the issue (available for just £1.99 on your iPad ), but here’s a snippet from our interview with Gina Garano, the MMA champ who made a bid for action superstardom with Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire .

Had you seen the previous films in the franchise when you got cast?

“No, I needed a bit of catching up – definitely. I’m more of a Pride And Prejudice type girl! It was like, “Oh cool. I’ve got some movies to watch.””

Do you see Dwayne Johnson as a kindred spirit, given you both came from sports backgrounds?

“Yes. People don’t give what he’s done - carrying film after film after film – enough respect. It takes a lot to carry a film and hold your shit together, and he’s done that. He’s also worked on the craft of acting, which gets better. Everybody’s attacked him; that’s what they do when you start. They attack you and they pick out your weaknesses.”

Fast & Furious 6
opens in the UK on 17 May 2013.
