Daniel Craig doesn't "give a f**k" who plays Bond next

Despite being contracted for another outing in the famous tux, speculation continues to circulate as to whether Daniel Craig will be returning for the next Bond film. While the star himself has previously suggested he'd keep playing the iconic secret agent until his body gave out, in a new interview with Time Out he reportedly said he’d only do another for a big payday.

"Now? I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists," says Craig when asked about returning for another Bond film. "No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on. I haven’t given it any thought. For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the fuck knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money."

To be fair to Craig, he’s just completed another gruelling shoot and is in the midst of a similarly draining press tour, so we can probably take his words with a pinch of salt. Still, it’s worth asking him who he’d like to see follow in his footsteps as the next 007, right?

"Look, I don’t give a fuck," comes the reply. "Good luck to them! All I care about is that if I stop doing these things we’ve left it in a good place and people pick it up and make it better. Make it better, that’s all. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this any more. This is really rare now. So don’t be shit…Go for it. Embrace it. Some clichéd line like that. But no, just make sure you’re great. You’ve got to push yourself as far as you can. It’s worth it, it’s James Bond."

SPECTRE will open in the UK on October 26 2015 and the US on November 6 2015.
