Japanese strategy RPG developer Nippon Ichi has released a steady stream of deeply weird and incredibly involved games, but it was Disgaea that was loved the most.
At last, a sequel has been announced, complete with all the zombie penguins and familiar characters fans can handle, and with higher resolution 2D graphics to boot. It's an acquired taste, but once you've tasted Disgaea you'll probably want more.
