14 actors you didn't realise were in Harry Potter AND Game of Thrones

8. Bronson Webb

Harry Potter: British actor Bronson Webb seems to have made a career out of playing various henchmen and lackeys, even appearing as one of the Joker's goons in The Dark Knight. True to form, he crops up in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban playing “Slytherin Boy”, an unnamed member of Draco Malfoy's gang.

Game of Thrones: At least Webb got to play a named character in Game of Thrones, even if he only appeared in the pilot episode. He plays Will, one of the three Night Watchmen who encounter the White Walkers in the opening scene of the series. He survives, but is promptly executed by Ned Stark for deserting his men.

9. Edward Tudor-Pole

Harry Potter: Former punk singer-turned-actor Edward Tudor-Pole turned up in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, playing antiques dealer Mr Borgin, the co-owner of Borgin and Burkes. His scenes were cut from the film, but you can watch them as deleted scenes on the DVD and Blu-ray release.

Game of Thrones: Tudor-Pole also makes a brief appearance in season 2 of Game of Thrones, popping up as a ranting street preacher in King's Landing. Blink and you’ll miss it.

10. Julian Glover

Harry Potter: Whilst veteran actor Julian Glover doesn't actually appear on screen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, he nonetheless makes a strong impression, voicing – look away now, arachnophobes - giant spider Aragog, who helps Harry prove Hagrid's innocence.

Game of Thrones: As Grand Maester Pycelle, Glover plays a significant role in Game of Thrones, appearing regularly in all six seasons. A member of the small council, Pycelle is a frequent spy for Cersei Lannister – he's also much stronger in mind and body than he appears, faking his frailty so that no-one perceives him as a threat. However, he came a cropper in season 6 and was murdered by Qyburn's ‘little birds’ shortly before the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor.

11. Nicholas Blane

Harry Potter: Character actor Nicholas Blane made a brief appearance in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as “Bob”, a wizard who works with Arthur Weasley at the Ministry of Magic.

Game of Thrones: Blane appeared for three episodes in season 2 of Game of Thrones, playing the self-proclaimed Spice King, whose real name is “quite long and impossible for strangers to pronounce”. One of The Thirteen who rule Qarth, he's killed off by warlock Pyat Pree, during a meeting with Daenerys Targaryen and Xaro Xhoan Daxos.

12. Sally Mortemore

Harry Potter: British actress Sally Mortemore briefly appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, playing Hogwarts librarian Madame Irma Pince. Though she's in the background of several scenes, she can be most clearly seen sitting next to Snape during the end-of-term feast sequence.

Game of Thrones: Montemore had an even smaller role in Game of Thrones, where she appeared as an unnamed resident of Braavos in season 6. Well, it’s something

13. Daniel Tuite

Harry Potter: Actor Daniel Tuite had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit part in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, where he was credited as “Skinny Ministry Wizard”.

Game of Thrones: Tuite had slightly more luck and significantly more screentime in season 6 of Game of Thrones, where he played Lothar Frey, the son of Walder Frey. After serving as his father's steward, Lothar is eventually killed, baked into a pie and served to Walder by Arya Stark, in revenge for the Frey’s part in the Red Wedding.

14. Ian Whyte

Harry Potter: Absurdly tall Welsh actor Ian Whyte (he's 7 ft 1, height fans!) doesn't actually play a part of his own in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but he's there on screen nonetheless. Providing full body shots for Hagrid’s love interest Madame Olympe Maxime, who was played by Frances de la Tour, he still has a Harry Potter credit to his name.

Game of Thrones: Whyte's other-wordly height has stood him in good stead for Game of Thrones where he's played several very tall characters across all six seasons, including a White Walker, the Mountain, and Free Folk giant Wun-Wun, whose death in battle was one of the saddest moments in season 6.
