XCOM: Enemy Unknown "Casualties of War" trailer released

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is headed for release later this Fall on October 9, 2012. We're just excited to see Firaxis get a chance to try their hand at something sort of new. It's been six years since they released anything that wasn't a Civilization title, and that was Sid Meier's Railroads! Not very outside the box. You've got to go back all the way to 2004 to Sid Meier's Pirates! to find a title even remotely removed from pure grand strategy.

Today, 2K Games released the "Casualties of War" trailer for XCOM: Enemy Unknown, their upcoming strategy title which is being developed by Firaxis, the minds behind Civilization V. The trailer is one of our best looks yet at the upcoming alien invasion.

Can't...freaking...wait Day one purchase for me, no review needed. Even if it doesn't hit my personal "lofty expectations" it will still likely be awesome and one thousand times better than the other X-Com knock offs that have tried to capture the timeless magic of the original's nearly twenty-year-old release. Thank God for Firaxis (and Jim Sterling)! And now that a proper remake is upon us I am interested to see/know what 2K's plans are for their FPS spin-off (which now, thankfully, gets the "spinoff" label rather than "reimagining"). When it was the only game in town and a proper remake/reimagining was nowehere to be found it was troubling but with taht out of the way I'm more interested in what 2K had in mind. Could make for a nice complimentary prequel of sorts...
