Joystiq loves Radical Entertainment President Kelly Zmak, his excitement is infectious. One might even go so far as to say that he, himself is radical ... or at least tubular. To give you a sample of Zmak, here's a bon mot he dropped on them as he showed Prototype earlier today on the showfloor of CES.

"When we get to to the preview stage and you get your hands on it and you get to play it, does it have that magic element, that fairy dust where you have those moments where you go 'F*** yeah!'?"

Here's hoping it has it.

Game companies have been announcing holiday products for the last few weeks and today marked the first day that PWN or DIE started receiving our virtual Christmas cards from the various games.

Midway Games sent a Wheelman holiday card which featured Vin Diesel in a Santa outfit while Activision and Radical sent a nice little video greeting from the game Prototype featuring Alex Mercer.

Around half the staff at Radical Entertainment have lost their jobs.

The Vancouver Sun reports that Vancouver-based video game developer Radical Entertainment is to lay off around 100 employees, equating to approximately half its work force.

The cut-backs come as a decision by Activision Blizzard to half Radical Entertainment's video game output.

PS3fanboy: "We should really be used to delays by now. Just after we showed you a crazy video for Prototype, we've gotten word that the game is going to get pushed back into April of 2009. Well, the April part isn't "official" according to Sierra, but the 2009 is. As a spokesperson for Sierra said, "in the simplest explanation possible, we need more time to deliver the game the team initially set out to create." This also brings the possibility of multiplayer back onto the table for consideration, but it hasn't been confirmed as part of the plan yet. We'll keep you informed as news unfurls."
