One of my favorite references is Mega Scott which is like Dark Link. I am a big Zelda Fan and I think it was funny when Scott says they have so much in common.

Each of the Evil Exs are a RPG Class 1. Matt Patel= Warlock (Summons Demons) 2. Lucas Lee= Fighter (Purely physical attacks) 3. Todd Ingrim= Paladin (Power based off of his lifestyle/Light looking energy) 4. "Roxy" Richter= Rogue (Uses teleportation/Really Fast) 5&6. Kyle/Ken Katayanagi= Mages (Fighting with ice magic/music) 7. Gideon Graves= Ninja (Fights with a Katana) OK 2 are a stretch, but I think it works

When he goes to pee, not only can you hear the song "Great Fairy Fountain" from the Zelda series, but also during that dream sequence he keeps saying "hey" kind of like Navi keeps yelling at nick in the game "The legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time"

Even though their band name is sex Bob-Omb the symbol for their band is the bomb from Serious Sam
  • Chronorayven - November 10, 2010 3:51 a.m.

During the Ramona Victoria Flowers fight with Roxy Richter's metal belt or whip is same one used by Ivy from the Soul Calibur also Bill Hader (SNL) is The Voice narrating the film. another one is during the start of the film if you look at the front of Kim's drum you can see a different Sex Bob-Omb logo looks that looks like a grinning version of Serious Sam's logo. :P

Scott fights Shadow Scott. A reference to Shadow Link who first appeared in Zelda 2 for the NES.
  • PlainLikeVanilla - November 10, 2010 2:04 a.m.

Nega Scott you know like dark link from the Zelda games.
  • Hendetta - November 10, 2010 2:04 a.m.

My favorite reference has to be the chiptune Universal theme opening. The movie doesn't hesitate to make gamers feel giddy right from the beginning. As soon as that played, I knew I was in for a treat.
  • BoondockSaint54 - November 10, 2010 12:54 a.m.

When Scott is walking through the school hallway they are playing the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past fairy room music.
  • ifthisusernameisntreadonthepodcastthekittengetsit - November 10, 2010 12:41 a.m.

The scene where scott defeated Roxy by touching her weak point is a reference to the common video game troupe of having a really hard monster boss who's only damaged when you hit their weak point.
