You guys might want to rewrite Project Phoenix to The Phoenix Project. I thought you were talking about the Nobuo Uematsu-fronted JRPG that also started from Kickstarter.

I just want one game like the old Everquest, or Ultima where when you die you can actually lose something. Games are so nerfed out and "safe". Is there really no market for a realistic PVP world? I realize some people cry when they lose their twinked out gear they worked for.... but that has to be some kind of market for an actual game where you are scared to die.

If that's what you are looking for try Eve Online,my name is Tzu Wu on there, would be more than happy to show you the ropes.

I Completely agree with you. I love PVP, but with all the current games, as you said, everything is "safe". It seems anyone who plays the current generation of games is missing out on what PVP truly is. Without risk, there isn't any reward. (and it isn't fun). I do play EVE, and in that, there is risk when doing PVP, but it isn't the same (I still play and have fun, its just different).

Try Darkfall Unholy Wars its an openworld pvp with safezones but if u die u loose everything thats not in your bank

There is actually, one I am in from the maker of Ultima Online and all the original Ultima from the last 30 years, Richard Garriott , they have a backer program going right now, and we had our first weekend of Pre Alpha testing this month and will have one every month until release in October of 2014, its called Shroud of the Avatar, if you decide to join us there all us old school Ultima and Ultima online players from back in the day, use me as a referral , just use my Username "Vaylgar", its totally worth it if your a die hard Ultima Or Ultima Online player like so many of us. we have over 26,000 people from old school Ultima in this backer program and its awesome! check it out

It's not in the fantasy genre, but Rust sounds like it might be something you would be interested in. It's completely not 'safe', you are always in danger of losing everything you have. It's available on Steam for 20$ and legit the most fun I've had while gaming since I first started playing WoW in vanilla. Check it out on youtube.

Im interesting on Black Desert Online, Blade & Soul. and other game. Too many to list. Does anyone have any idea when they going to release?
  • bonbonmon - January 18, 2014 9:05 a.m.

You TOTALLY skipped over Mortal Online. Like literally 99% of what this described for the future of mmo's is in Mortal Online except for parkour... The ultimate game is out there, go play it... oh and its still in beta so don't expect a perfect polish, but it's updating constantly
  • iRailon - February 16, 2014 3:01 a.m.

Mortal Online is not in beta...the beta began over 4 years ago and they've already had two expansions. I don't really blame you though as the game has received a lot of bashing for the fact that it still feels like an unpolished beta years after release. Mortal Online had a good idea behind it, but it's lack of any kind of direction, story, or quests leaves it to just one massive grind where you eventually realize that even Kill X of X quests are more fun than what you're doing.
  • ego13 - February 21, 2014 12:36 p.m.

Mortal Online is also horribly P2Win...while I can't stand F2P...if you're going to tout yourself as such you shouldn't completely gimp your F2P'ers. Mortal is bad....and once people realize it's just a money-grab and move on to....hell Minecraft is better....the better.

OtherLand is a canceled game. It's been canceled for quite a while now, so I don't know why you would put that up here

Camelot Unleashed - been watching it since I assisted in the kickstarter. However, this is not even REMOTELY a 2014 game. The game will begin alpha near the end of this year, and won't even be in beta til next year. A great game with outstanding potential, but should not be part of this list.
  • SpeedHighway - February 21, 2014 4:49 p.m.

Camelot Unchained is not even remotely a 2014 release. I've been watching the development of thta one since early kickstarter where I helped fund it and the alpha for it is not even scheduled til the end of this year, with the beta mid-way through next year. (As it clearly states on the kickstarter page you suggest that readers visit.)

I already dumped my money into TESO and I totally missed out on the beta(s). I had emergency repair work to inspect on some questionable oil rigs. I hope I chose the correct game to invest in as it will probably need to last me a couple years. That's not long for a MMORPG so it shouldn't be a problem.
  • Ryuzakai - March 23, 2014 11:56 a.m.

well I have played ESO now and I must say after waiting and watching all the news and updates when I finally got my beta key to test it out I was sorely disappointed with what I saw seriously was just like any other generic fantasy mmo poor movement animation poor lighting (like watching underworld) poor mobs really I hate to run it down as I was looking so much forward to playing thinking it would be the 'ONE' sadly no .... as it was by complete accident I stumbled across something else.. Age Of Wulin omfg... if u a love of martial arts and beautiful graphics open world pvp or instance pve check this game out they do things I have never seen in mmos before I cant stress enough how fluid it is and how lifelike the animation is.. ok enough about that yeah also im waiting for blade n soul to emerge in EU or US but as they have just got into Korean CB I doubt that will happen anytime soon maybe a couple of years... heres hoping....
  • laineygarretson - July 2, 2014 10:07 a.m.

I agree ESO is nothing like the Elder Scrolls game. It's like they masked a cheezy linear mmo with the Elder scroll look. I wish the real Elder Scrolls games could have more than one person like co op....
  • Evanesco - April 15, 2014 2:10 p.m.

Why does The Division slide say it's releasing in 2015? The developers have come right out and said, twice, that it's on track for this year. Why does nobody listen....
