Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD now available as Summer of Arcade begins

The highly anticipated HD remaster of the most memorable levels from the first two Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games hits Xbox Live today, marking the beginning of Microsoft's annual Summer of Arcade promotion.

Developed by Robomodo, who was the developer behind TH: Ride and TH: Shred, the HD remaster will also include many of the original songs from the THPS and THPS 2 soundtracks. Although, half the soundtrack is new material.

Robomodo has also said that they will be creating even more content to be available as DLC. Specifically, they've been given the greenlight to remaster levels from THPS3 (by some accounts the best of them all) and release them as a $5 DLC pack.

This is only the beginning of Summer of Arcade though (some say it started two weeks ago with the release of Spelunky HD). Every week until August 15 will see the release of a new title, culminating with Dust: An Elysian Tail.

I really wish they would have create-a-skater, but otherwise I'm having lots of fun! The first 2 Tony Hawk games were the best in the series history (in relation to their era) so playing them again with sharper graphics has been a nice trip down memory lane. I'm kind of a sucker for the orignal's gameplay style, too. I also like how they included some of the songs from the original version (like the essential Public Enemy jam "Bring the Noise" and "You" by Bad Religion), but also bolstered it with some new tracks, my favorite of which are "The Bomb" by Pigeon John, Flyentolgy by El-P and Trent Reznor, and "We the People" by Lateef the Truthspeaker.

The Tony Hawk HD and Dust: An Elysian Tail are the only two I really care about. I'll look into the rest though, I guess.

I can't even start up my Xbox marketplace after I have been spoiled rotten by Steam the last few days..........I just can't....
