Tekken Tag Tournament 2 trailer is all sexy ladies, but pre-order bonus swimsuits will be equal opportunity

Tekken has never been regarded as the sexy fighting game - Anna Williams showing a bit of leg is about as raunchy as its ever got. But a new trailer for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is all about the femme sexy, focusing on the various legs, boobs and strategically suggestive posturing of its lady fighters. There's hardly an ugly man in sight. Put some sexy lady visuals in your eyes:

The sexy doesn't stop there. Namco Bandai has announced Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will include over 100 swimsuits as a pre-order bonus in the US (with the likelihood of it becoming downloadable content post-release). More importantly, the swimsuits are going to be equal opportunity swimsuits - producer Katsuhiro Harada confirmed the beachwear would be for the game's male and animal characters as well as its lady type ones. In video-game terms, it's very progressive.

Here are some pictures of the swimsuits in action (regrettably no images yet of Kuma or Ganryu bursting out of their Speedo's):

Above: Women in swimsuits having a fight

Above: The spectators are also in swimsuits. They are not fighting

Above: Michelle is wearing a Native-American swimsuit

And here is a Photoshop job of Kuma in a mankini because, frankly, it was too good an opportunity miss:

Above: A bearkini?

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be out in September for PS3 and Xbox 360. Wii U version to follow. Sexy times.

For all of you crying about "tekken going down this road." What "road" exactly? As if gaming hasnt had huge titties being thrown in your face? Who cares, as long as the fighting is decent. Which its Tekken, so you know it will be. Get off your high horses and enjoy the boobage.

Boobage is always a tough quandary to navigate. On one hand, none of us want to be treated like mindless horndogs who'll buy anything with boobs, nor do we want ladies to feel uncomfortable about viewing these things. But on the other hand, it does work...

Im married. Been marrie for 4 and a half years. My wife does not give a shit if some boobs are shown in a video game. People need to stop trying to be politicaly correct and enjoy themselves.

This is just gunna help with the already known reputation of over sexualized fighting games. Either way, Tekken Tag Tournament is a must buy for me.

I only came to this article for a bearkini they never said it would be shopped! >=[

Just be happy that bearkinis now exist in the world.

Wow, this is really really... stupid. Seriously, I'd take the bear mankini over the girls in bikinis because there you know they're having fun. This however is the lazy pandering style.

Totally agree. The only thing that makes me more disappointed is the fact that it works...

    Well this sure is, something
  • minimaxi - July 16, 2012 6:32 a.m.

nothing new for a soul calibur fan ;) also, WATERMELON BIKINI!!
  • Redeater - July 16, 2012 6:18 a.m.

Seriously? And just like that I have written off Tekken forever. If this is what games are resorting to count me out. I don't want to rescue Princess Peach in the next Mario Game while she is wearing a bikini.
  • taokaka - July 16, 2012 7:37 a.m.

What if Mario and Bowser were also wearing swim wear? But seriously, writing off an entire franchise just because they offered some alternate costumes as a preorder incentive to their already extensive character costume design tools is just utterly stupid.

I know I wrote off Metroid after that extremely pandering ending to the first one, when Samus wore a swimsuit. There's absolutely no reason why women should wear swimsuits in games, they don't do it in real life, do they?
  • taokaka - July 16, 2012 5:45 p.m.

Firstly, it's not just the female characters that get swimsuit to wear, it's also the men, animals, robots and sentient pieces of wood. Secondly, the swimsuit is entirely optional so you don't have to wear it if you don't want to. Thirdly, why shouldn't female characters in games have the right to wear what the developer wants, it is a creative work after all. Also using your sense of logic I could say that video game characters shouldn't kill, there's usually no justification for it in most cases. Fourthly, women most certainly do wear swimsuits in real life, however tekken is a game and the character creation reflects that, in fact swimsuits are some of the least absurd items used in the character creation. here's a trailer with a little glimpse of the creation tools (2:27 is when it starts) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bf1kP7jzSE At one point alisa has a tuna strapped to her back and I don't hear people complaining about that.

Stupid to you maybe. Everybody has their own frame of reference, and in their world this may be a damnable offense. Don't assume someone is of lesser intelligence than you just because they disagree. Besides. There are way dumber people that we could be making fun of instead of wasting our time mocking Tekken dissenters, y'know? Let's focus the hate over here instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church
  • taokaka - July 16, 2012 5:55 p.m.

This Westboro Baptist Church you speak of sounds wonderful, wear do I sign up? I didn't mean to call redeater stupid, we all say stuff that can seem disagreeable to others often but still not be stupid. To clarify I just wanted to say that resorting to such an extreme would be stupid (oh no a minor aspect of a game I don't like, lets write off everything relating to that game series now) I just think such a reaction was highly unnecessary. But oh well if he wants to miss out on a fantastic franchise just because it will now have swimwear then his loss.

seriously? Namco is just adding extra stuff to game already packed with gameplay and content. this is tekken tag, a celebration after 3 numbered tekkens. its bound to take itself less seriously. besides they have swimsuits for the guys too so maybe you'd like Leo in a red speedo or heiachi in a loincloth instead (this actually exists http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBRBN4GSQvc) I think its all just for fun
  • rxb - July 16, 2012 6:11 a.m.

Apart from the game play footage the video looks like an advert for a very dodgy strip club. It a shame Tekken has gone down this route...although Bearkini could be epic.
  • Andrew Groen - July 16, 2012 3:35 p.m.

Honestly, you're totally right about that. They'd be getting a lot more publicity right now if they focused on bearkinis. Instead they're getting a lot of exasperated sighs of annoyance from gamers. With bearkinis, everyone would have laughed and said "oh awesome, this game has a sense of humor."
  • taokaka - July 16, 2012 5:17 a.m.

What about yoshimitsu????? Will we finally see his body after two decades. P.S. to help put a horrible image in your head, wang in speedos
