Smash Bros. Wii U, coming to a Best Buy near you!

Nintendo might not be having a typical, traditional E3 presser, but they'll be bringing the Wii U version of Smash Bros. to Best Buy's around the country instead. Talk about a good consolation prize! Check out this episode for more details, and for Henry's SECRET PLOT TO STEAL THE GAME.

The Nintendo experience, now in portable form.

There's one across the street from where I work so I'll check it out for sure.

If it's at my Best Buy I will play it. I wonder what kind of controller options they'll have there though... :/ Henry that was great. Also if anyone wants to watch the video that they referenced that announces the event, here's the link. Reggie has an amazing performance as usual. "Forget it. I'm going home"

Gamepad and Wii U controller pro most likely. Im good at transitioning, ive been playing Brawl with Wiimote+Nunchuck and im definitely gonna play smash with the gamepad. I dont know about Best Buy, but Smash Bros in general is about customization so who knows what other control schemes they'll give players.

Also Henry's plan is glorious. Poor Ryan XD

By the way you guys even describe it in the video, its as if people are just whinning about Nintendo not having a press conference for the sake of not having a press conference. Despite them technically still having a conference but in a different format. I honestly dont care, i enjoyed Last Year and it seems Nintendo wants to expand what they did this year with a ton of different digital events, which im personally okay with because E3 2012 was absolute garbage in time management, they didnt even give us a chance to savor the Pikmin 3 reveal they just jumped sentence after sentence and such. Lets just hope they broadcast it better because the stream was LAAAAAAGY at the worst parts.

As long as one of the Best Buys near me carries this, I WILL be going to play Smash Bros. The amount of WANT is WAY TOO HIGH!!!
  • BladedFalcon - May 2, 2014 3:44 p.m.

There are no Best Buys anywhere around me in a 4 hour radius... So meh. I'd hardly call this a proper substitute for not having a real conference.
  • Cyberninja - May 2, 2014 9:24 p.m.

They have the Nintendo Direct instead of the conference and there literally isn't a single thing that they could do in a huge conference they couldn't do in the Nintendo Direct
  • BladedFalcon - May 2, 2014 9:48 p.m.

True... Shame their Nintendo DIrects don't carry as much interesting content as they should either. Sure, last year's E3 Sony had also a ton of dead spots, but ultimately, both Sony and Microsoft ended up having more interesting conferences than the stilted show Iwata gave, showing videos of msotly games we already knew about, with only the Smash Bross and the Tropical Freeze reveals to be the only stuff being worth paying attention to. Then again, last year, they also had an exciting Nintendo Direct months before E3 that was way better and more exciting. We have not seen any such Direct this year so far, so one can only hope it means they are saving it all for E3 this time.

I only feel that both Sony and Microsoft brought their A games because they wanted to sell new systems to early adopters, so this show will be fun this year.
  • BladedFalcon - May 3, 2014 5:04 a.m.

Maybe, but now they should work even harder if they want to KEEP selling systems, specially because they haven't delivered a lot of good reasons and games just yet, so this is their biggest chance to at least keep people interested with the PROMISE of good games incoming. And I will say this for Microsoft, they have promised to have a big E3 this year, and to their credit, even though everyone half ignored them last E3 because we were all still pissed at their shitty May reveal, they DID deliver in their promise of an E3 focused mainly on games and games only. Plus, it's more and more evident that they are faling behind Sony rather quickly, so it's in their best interest to deliver the best presentation they can have. Of course, this should go doubly for Nintendo, who are in worse shape than Microsoft in this race... But as you and most Nintendo enthusiasts love to point out every time, Nintendo always does their own thing, for better or worse.
