Shadow invades Sonic Generations in Dreamcast-centric new trailer

To crusty old gamers like us, Sonic Generations’ greatest asset is getting to play 2D, 16-bit inspired levels as Sonic’s pudgy old self. Still, we realize that a younger, fresher group of players grew up around 3D Sonic games, with Sonic Adventures setting the tone for all their future furry fun, and those people are probably much more excited about the modern Sonic stages. While we pity the gamers who feel that way, we throw you a bone by offering up this new trailer for Sonic Generations that focuses on the Dreamcast era of Sonic’s career.

Even if we’d rather play the redone Genesis levels, we’ll admit the mostly 2D versions of those stages from the Adventure games actually looked pretty good. Then Sega had to go and spoil it all by dropping in one of Sonic’s shitty friends at the very end, namely Shadow the Hedgehog. However, if this means we get to fight and/or beat the living crap out of the sulky, edgy wannabe, his appearance won’t be a total waste. Sonic Generations comes out November 1.
