Not much has been dug up about the Tomb Raider movie (though we have caught a glimpse of a potential first page of the script), but the new Lara Croft, Alicia Vikander, is keen to share a relative treasure trove of interesting tidbits and information about the movie reboot. That includes where Lara is when the movie kicks off and what her motivations are. And it’s certainly taken a few cues from its videogame cousin (and from your local cosplay convention).

As we meet Lara, she’s stuck in an ‘ordinary day job’ in London, until a clue hinting that her dad, played by The Wire’s Dominic West, may not be dead after all. And so an adventure begins.

Speaking to EW, Vikander reveals where Lara’s head is at once she receives the big news that dad might not be six-feet under and what her personality is like at the movie’s outset (it’s very Tomb Raider game reboot), “She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits,” Vikander explains, “But we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck-up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”

  • Sophie Turner as Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix Tomb Raider's Sophie Turner says she's been training for a year to play Lara Croft: "I think it's going to be special"

Tomb Raider certainly sounds like it’s bringing the action chops to rival anything seen before from Lara, either on screen or on console, as Vikander found out when she was, umm, tossed down a river, “They threw me down that river — with my hands tied — about 50 times. I didn’t need to act, just react!”

And if you needed proof, here’s a picture of Lara Croft hanging precariously from a rock face. Much like previous shots (one of which you can also see below) she’s looking every inch the doppelganger from the game reboots (maybe a little too much?).

No tombs yet, sadly, but at least this isn’t one video game movie stuck in developmental hell.
