Rockstar spills the beans on L.A Noire DLC and Rockstar Pass

Prepare to spend more time reading faces and poking corpses this summer. Rockstar and Team Bondi have released a rundown of their L.A. Noire DLC plans for the next couple of months, and it looks like detective Cole Phelps won't be catching a break anytime soon.

The overtime begins today with the arrival of two new chapters, The Naked City Vice case and A Slip of the Tongue Traffic case; both of which are available to download for $4 (PSN) or 320 Microsoft Points (Xbox Live). Also on offer are The Badge Pursuit Challenge for $2/160 MPs, and the Sharpshooter and Broderick detective suits for $1/80 MPs.

In addition to today's content, Rockstar announced the arrival of the Nicholson Electroplating Arson case on June 21st, and the Reefer Madness Vice case on July 12th. The two new outings will be priced at $4/320 MPs apiece, and are said to be “inspired both by famous noir fiction and real-life crimes taken straight from the headlines".

As an incentive to sign on early for the seven DLC packs (and to make buying DLC that much classier), Rockstar has also started selling the oh-so-cool-sounding 'Rockstar Pass'  which grants gumshoes access to all of the announced DLC via an exclusive online L.A. Noire portal for $10/800 MPs. Once this initial promotion is over, the Rockstar Pass will still be available, but for the normal price of $12/900 MPs.

Last but not least, there's also incentives to be had for Rockstar Social Club members. As a “token to fans” the publisher is giving away free Chicago Lightening Detective suits and unlocking Chicago Piano machine gun.

Four new cases, a whack of weapons and fancy suits for ten bucks? And free social club swag? That's a chunk of content for a game that's only been on the streets for two weeks. Question is, will it be enough to keep you on duty?

How do PS3 players get the pass while the PS Store is still down?

You guys are missing the entire basis of the "Rockstar Pass" It's not like an EA Online pass, and that is required to play the game online if you buy it used, because thats just simple greed. "Oh these people buy a used copy of UFC 2010 from 20$ at Gamestop. Lets make an Online Payment Required to play it online so we cant get some of our money back. Now if thats traded in EA Is racking up 10$ from every used copy of the games that require passes for online play. Rockstar Pass HOWEVER, IS giving you all the pre-order items and promotional items Such as the Chicago Typewriter Style Gun, Packed with it. And this game's only online feature is Ask The Community. But now as i was saying you guys forgot a big part to put in this story. All DLC After this pack will be discounted greatly to those who have the Rockstar Pass. Reefer Madness and the Electroplating Case Are free. Anything that comes out after those, will cost you money, but will be greatly reduced in cost/points. And that is a high point seller in this case, its a good market tool if you ask me.

I'm going to focus my willpower and hold off till the GotY edition comes out with all the DLC packed into the package. I know it's going to happen.

It's a solid deal. It gives you access to not only DLC that was pre-order exclusives, but the two upcoming DLC packs, for pretty much half price. It's quite an interesting way of going about selling the DLC. I went ahead and bought the pass when I saw the offer on the dashboard just because I would be buying the packs anyway and this seemed like a good way to go about it.

I just bought this, it's a really good deal if you plan on buying all/most of the DLC.

Just beat the game about 20 minutes ago. As soon as I jump on my computer, DLC. Pretty sweet timing.

There are a few things that I really don't like about this game, but I can't stop playing it.
