RadioRadar podcast 032: Total Eclipse of the Snake

Kept you waiting, huh? We're late this week (sorry!), but we have a good excuse! BioShock was important, you guys, and we had to play it. Actually, that's not why we didn't record last week--it was due to GDC that we were unable to find time to jump into the ol' podcast room. We did record today, though, and boy, have we got a show for you.

Hosts: Hollander Cooper, Greg Henninger, Ryan Taljonick, Tom Magrino, Henry Gilbert
Question of the week: What side character deserves its own game? Answer to win a free game!
Intro song by Danny Baranowsky

You guys aren't thinking your Teddie idea wouldn't work because the midnight channel didn't exist before or after the events of Persona 4, so no Teddie platformer.

I'd like to see a spy game featuring Gianna Parasini from the Mass Effect universe. She's the corporate investigator you encounter on the Noveria mission. You could spend the game outwitting dirty CEOs, gather clues and investigate corruption, maybe even getting the option of whetting your beak yourself, if you know what I mean. She's such an awesomely cock-sure character, and one of few that actually calls Shepard a jerk if he acts like one.

Navi (from Ocarina of Time) deserves her own game. Would be a Annoying Sim (a natural evolution of dating sim). The main objective of the game would be ALWAYS stop the quest of the hero of time to say something useless, also when the hero most needs your help you simply repeats the same senseless sentences. Plus, the DLC Fi's Robotic 105% boring sentences is included, if you pre-purchase now. PS: So I was the winner! But, even though I won, I live here in Brasil, and as you said before you can't send any game (artbook, or whatsoever) to other countries. So if possible, if you have any Steam/Origin code I would be more than pleased :)

What about Louie from Pikmin 2? What did he do leading up to his first mission for Hocotate Freight? Maybe it wasn't his "first mission"... What about a prequel to Red Dead Redemption where you play as Dutch's Gang? I've wondered what crimes and robberies they did before they broke up. I implore you to consider a Wild Bunch Red Dead game with great character development. Also, Sully would be cool. Less mass murder simulator though.
  • Moondoggie1157 - April 2, 2013 6:54 p.m.

What about Mr. Drippy from Ni No Kuni? An origin story based on him earning his name and the many adventures he had while traveling to the fairy clinic to rid himself of said name.
  • ssj4raditz - April 2, 2013 4:31 p.m.

Claptrap from Borderlands needs his own game. I mean, what does that little guy get up to when he's not assisting/harassing the heroes? What happened to him between the first and second game? And, most importantly, how does he avoid getting turned into scrap by every single person who meets him?
  • KnightDehumidifier - April 2, 2013 4:13 p.m.

I actually thought up a brilliant game concept one day, involving The Legend of Zelda's own Beedle, the cereal bowl haircut shopkeeper. Essentially, it'd be a business sim where you manage all of Beedle's shops throughout Hyrule amidst Link's grand adventure to save the world. The goal in question is to accumulate a conglomerate, and become the most savviest financier in the Hylian Kingdom.

I have two answers either: 1. Shale from Dragon Age, she was hilarious. 2. Sully from Uncharted, great character and I am sure he has lots of back story to explore.

Also, fuck you guys for saying Chrono Trigger just got a rerelease! Last week's question was, "What game do you want to see get a remake" not "what game do you want to see get a regular-ass port to a handheld". I want a DQ8 quality Chrono Trigger remake!

So the 2008 Prince of Persia reboot (alternatively "Nolan North presents; Prince of Persia") starts out with Prince Nolan getting lost risking his life for his donkey Farah who, according to the prince, was carrying a kings ransom in gold. This is he first and last mention we get to the donkey so it has got the whole "side character" thing down. Now, in the original PoP Farah was a princess, in this one she is a donkey. Assuming they retained at least something about the character in ther reboot we have a potentially Royal Donkey (!) adventuring out in the desert with a slew of cash on its back. And just so the package is complete they should get Nolan North to voice Farah doing his best impression of a female regal donkey.

Great episode as always guys! Cant wait for the preview! Nintendo should start listening to Charles more. The Legend of Groose: Skyward Pampadour! Play as Groose, fight bad guys who are Groosin' For A Bruisin'! Use the Groosenator and be the hero Skyward deserves instead of the one it doesnt need during wimpy Link Skyward Stick
  • GR HollanderCooper - April 2, 2013 8:18 a.m.

GROOSE! Yes! That would be wonderful.

'Handsome Jack's Point 'n Click Adventure'. Not enough games let you work your way up the corporate ladder as a complete sociopath. Or maybe, 'A Draugr's Life'. Gameplay consists of sitting quietly (serenely?) in your crypt/tomb for a random amount of time (replay value!), hiding, waiting for that unsuspecting adventurer to wander by, who totally assumes that you're one of the many dead littered about. Their mistake! Unfortunately, most playthroughs end with said adventurer hacking you to shit before you can even move. Ya know, just to be safe. I'd totally play that.

I think Zelda should have her own puzzle adventure game where she has a role in saving Hyrule. One of her abilities could be turning into Shiek and use her harp to solve puzzles like link's ocarina.
  • g1rldraco7 - April 1, 2013 11:45 p.m.

Tingle from the Legend of Zelda needs a backstory. I mean what happened to make him run around in green and red underwear to go live with fairies?!
  • DarthEnderX - April 1, 2013 9:31 p.m.

Portal 3: The Space Sphere Chronicles
  • ilikeserial - April 2, 2013 12:09 a.m.

    sounds fucking awesome.
  • Sinosaur - April 2, 2013 11:25 a.m.

Space sphere is the best at space...
  • ventanger - April 1, 2013 8:50 p.m.

The zombie that holds up the sign at the start of the final waves in Plants vs. Zombies. How did he get that sign? Why did he pick it up? Who drew the picture of the brain on the sign? Is it the same person who drew the angry face on the balloon zombie's balloon? Why can't you just lock your back door? Why is my nose bleeding? ALL THESE QUESTIONS MUST BE ANSWERED! urp....
  • archnite - April 1, 2013 7:33 p.m.

The Boss would be cool with a WWII era Metal Gear game, especially since the gap between eras seems to be closing so it would be neat to go all the way back.
