RadarPlays - Punch-Out!! (NES)

With boxing legend Punch-Out!! just re-released on the Wii U Virtual Console, we put back on our gloves to go a few rounds with this game--but we probably should've trained more first. Just like in most of the Rocky films, we had to lose a couple times before the big comeback happened. Watch as would-be pugilists/GamesRadar editors Henry, Lucas, and Ryan celebrate the sweet science in the Nintendo classic.

Want to hang out with GamesRadar's editors while taking a look at retro games, new releases, and totally random experiences? RadarPlays is for you. Mondays we'll be checking out blasts from the past on RadarPlays Retro, Wednesdays we change things up to whatever we feel like playing with RadarPlays Shuffle, and Friday is packed with the strangest titles you’ve never (hopefully) heard of in RadarPlays Freaky. We'll also release RadarPlays for all the new releases, so be sure to check back!

That was one of the best RadarPlays I've ever watched. I was laughing the whole time, whether it was at Henry's ineptitude, or Lucas's epic come back against Honda. And there was good trivia!

it's just painful to watch kids with no old school chops

I wonder what Mario thought about you getting knocked out by glass joe.

Henry, it's been said... I believe on this very site, no less... that losing to Glass Joe is one of the most shameful things that a gamer could ever experience. Oh! In fact, I just did a search for it on the site, and found the relevant article. It's Gaming's 13 Unluckiest Bastards. It's on slide 5. I remember laughing my butt off the first time I read this, quoted from the article: "Poor Glass Joe. Poor wimpy, pathetic Glass Joe. Poor wimpy, pathetic, useless 99-time loser who’d probably lose a fistfight to a baby, assuming the baby wanted to sully its record by fighting Glass Joe." "If you lose against Glass Joe, you lose at video games. All video games. In fact, if there were any justice in the world, your loss would be met with a huge, pixelated middle finger just before your NES self-destructed while sobbing. Glass Joe isn’t meant to win. He’s meant to be a vaguely French punching bag that occasionally remembers to hit back with weak jabs." Ouch. Sorry Henry, I just had to point it out. I was rooting for you, I didn't think you'd actually lose.
