I couldn't care less who is responsible, thats for Sony to figure out (unless if it really was a problem on their part in which case they already know). what IS important is for the damn thing to go back up. they keep saying "re-building" the system. that sounds like it'll take forever. uncool.

@ultimatepunchrod It recently attacked PSN/Sony, and denied this outage, and was thus a noteworthy thing to mention, don't you think? Also, herp derp we know.

I blame the hackers even more now that I've heard that pity excuse for an alibi. Prolly some 360 fanboys or secret micro$oft ops are responsible.

Oh poor Sony...They feed the masses a massive lie. The likelihood of this being an attack on them is very unlikely. To me, I see a company taking complete advantage of the Anno. Taking servers offline to make their servers more secure and placing the blame on the hackers. Pawns is all they are. Now....to be fair. Yes, sony's PSN Store has been hacked by the Custom Firmware community. They found a loophole to get onto the PSN store with fake accounts and through a glitch, they were getting everything on the PSN Store for free, with FAKE accounts. Now these people who have been doing this will get what is coming to them because they first had to put in SOME CREDIT CARD INFO, for the glitch to work. So they can expect a full fledged console ban if they even try to log back on(Just a guess). This is a smart move by Sony. They do need a more secure network! And they should take the time necessary to do it. They are just approaching is completely wrong....As they do everything. Don't believe me? Just do some research on PS3 Hack sites. It is clear as can be. Oh yeah...whine and complain all you want, start a Xbox vs PS3 flame war if ya want...Fact is, Both consoles are great, Don't pick sides, because its about the games! NOT the consoles.

anonymous arent the only hackers in the world GDAR.
  • Vitreosity - April 25, 2011 6:57 p.m.

If it were Anonymous, they'd take the blame for it; I'd be willing to bet that it was internal. And before you say that Anonymous could be taken to court over this, remember: Anonymous. Nobody takes the blame because nobody knows anything about them, not even themselves.
  • Bantha_Fodder - April 25, 2011 6:56 p.m.

huh, Anyonymous has this wierd sense of honor. when they say they didn't do something, they're usually telling the truth... I remember hearing that their servers (held by a third party) got messed up (partially because of the quake) and that's why PSN is down. what happened to that? as long as they get it fixed and everyone's credit cards are un-raped, everthing'll be juuuuuuust fine... and as long as I can still play Portal 2 on Steam... I can do that right? Use my free PC copy if PSN is down?
  • MercurialForce - April 25, 2011 6:47 p.m.

I can't see this being the fault of Anonymous. They have no reason to deny it, plus they did say that they did not want to harm the users, only Sony.

@ SergwWaffels December 27th, 2007 Also, it was just trouble accessing the online store. Good try though, A for Effort.

@MarkdmfMan Stop stereotyping hackers to all be aimbot fun-ruiners. A lot of hackers help make the game more fun for everyone.
  • paganpoet - April 25, 2011 6:40 p.m.

This has gotta suck for everyone who bought Portal 2 or Mortal Kombat for their PS3s last week. I know PSN is free, but do you reckon Sony will offer some sort of compensation for the service being down for so long? $5 towards Playstation Store purchases? Probably unlikely, but I can hope.
  • MarkdmfMan - April 25, 2011 6:37 p.m.

If this delay prevents future hacking then it is worth the wait.

  • Spade103 - April 25, 2011 6:34 p.m.

Trololol, etc. Love seeing fanboys get mad over stuff that doesn't matter.
  • FunkyPickle - April 25, 2011 6:32 p.m.

Hey, what's wrong with green? Pickles are green. 'Nuff said.
  • veryweirdguy - April 25, 2011 6:30 p.m.

Ah, but, but...the green boxes. :(
  • tlopezkid - April 25, 2011 6:28 p.m.

stupid people hacked into a FREE network and now no one can play for at least a week(probably longer). hackers make me sick.
  • z50macdaddy - April 25, 2011 6:28 p.m.

  • CoryM1134 - April 25, 2011 6:19 p.m.
