Prototype 2 Blackwatch Collector's Edition revealed with new trailer

Radical adds RADNET pass, DLC, and more in limited edition package

Activision and Radical Entertainment today confirmed the existence of a “highly limited quantity” Prototype 2 Blackwatch Collector's Edition, scheduled to arrive with the “mass produced” regular versions this spring.

The special edition pack will include Prototype 2's DLC-heavy RADNET pass, the Colossal Mayhem DLC pack (due out in May), a soundtrack CD, hardcover art book, a Dark Horse Digital Comic entitled Prototype: The Labyrinth, and a coupon for a 20% discount in the Prototype swag store. See what you $79.99 will get you in Radical's Collector's Edition trailer:

“When we initially began discussing the idea of creating a collector’s edition for Prototype 2, we knew right off the bat that it would have to be something special for our most hardcore fans – the ones who finished the original game multiple times; those who constantly debate whether Mercer or Heller is the more badass character; the ones who are eagerly waiting to jump in feet first and experience all that Prototype 2 has to offer,” said Ken Rosman, Radical Entertainment's studio head.

Prototype 2 is currently in incubation for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for release on April 24 in North America, and April 27 in the UK.

It's strange... game companies eem to know that I'm a sucker for artbooks and OSTs. Counfound these collector editions, driving me to spend more money.

"we knew right off the bat that it would have to be something special for our most hardcore fans – the ones who finished the original game multiple times" I wonder how many people that is, because I could never even finish it once. As soon as that timer kicked in on the last boss I knew I was fucked, every single time. Still, I'm gonna check out Prototype 2, even if I have to just Youtube the ending to the first one.

I'll save you the trouble, if you want. So here: SPOILER ALERT- You beat the boss of course, Mercer takes the nuke far away into the ocean, the city is saved, and at the end you see a puddle of the viral mutation goo shit that mercer is made of or whatever. The puddle starts to move and shift and you see his hand or arm form or something? I forget what exactly but mercer survives is what I got from it, dude's invincible. END SPOILER That out of the way, I think this game is worth keeping an eye on, it's not going to be an amazing original one shot wonder or anything, but it'll be fun just like the first one.
