Prince of Persia trilogy coming to US as downloadable titles

Consumers in the US waiting for the high-def collection of Prince of Persia titles, previously only released in the UK, won't have to wait much longer. The remastered versions of the classic action platformer will be coming stateside, not as a packaged retail compilation but as individual piecemeal downloads on the PlayStation Store.

So even though the special packaging won't be coming here, players will be able to pick and choose which Prince of Persia games they want to download:

- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

In addition, the full version of the Prince of Persia Trilogy will also be available as a downloadable release.

This comes as part of Ubisoft's just-released list of its upcoming games for the new fiscal year. Each entry was listed with "PSN" instead of PS3 as the platform.

Pricing details have not been announced, although the disc-based version in the UK will be available for £29.99 when it comes out there on November 19.

Ubisoft also made brief mention of a potential Splinter Cell Trilogy also coming to the PlayStation Network. No actual specifics have been announced for that.

This all follows the release of Sony's first-party God of War Trilogy as separate downloadable titles on the PSN. The PS3 units available at retail continue to have larger and larger hard drives, so more players have more room for downloadable games.

Hopefully we'll continue to see classic titles resurrected. After all, who doesn't love nostalgia?

Not getting this, frankly. I'd LIKE to get the games, but the fact that they're DL titles instead of Disk versions is the problem. I'm running out of space (Eventually I'm going to have to start deleting downloaded PSN/PS1 games).

@TNK2 is there really an emulator built into the slims?

i already have sands of time and warrior within on my ps2, but i'll probably download two thrones. kudos to them for ignoring the dying format of physical media and going to straight to future. no game should ever be released on a disk.

Why doesn't sony just release the PS2 emulator that hackers found in the root of every PS3 including Slim instead making us pay for HD releases greedy bastards! I can't wait until hacker release the ps2 emulator.
