you guys talked about a feebas and u were giving them away how do u get one

I agree with saying that too big a difference between games would almost definitely end up in one version being way better than the other. So changing too much wouldn't be right. Maybe completely different sprites, at the most. But if we start talking about the series as a whole, there's still a hell of a lot of awesome ideas left to explore.
  • samgardner94 - June 10, 2010 10:20 p.m.

I wouldn't like to see too much difference because Pokemon games are based on simplicity and have always followed the same basic storyline, changing it just wouldn't seem right
  • Styrophoamicus - June 10, 2010 4:21 p.m.

I know this is probably never going to happen, but I'd like to see a battle system akin to Chrono Trigger instead of the same old turn-based battle system. Imagine getting into a battle and not having some flashy transition screen, your trainer just tosses the pokeballs out and the battle starts, keeping the same overhead perspective. In terms of story, I think playing as a character with some semblance of personality would be refreshing. The closest thing we've gotten to a majore story overhaul was Pokemon Colloseum. And make Team Rocket (or whatever iteration) actually threatening. What if your charaacter gets captured by Team Rocket and you have to battle your way out of a base, rescuing trainers and Pokemon as you go? I'm not asking that they burn your home town to the ground and you cry out for vengance over the body of your dead mother, but at least make them seem threatening and not just an obstacle on your way to the next gym. recaptcha: spittle far

I hope the story is immensly difrent from the originals, I would also like to be able to eat Farfetch'D
  • JFWSP - June 9, 2010 10:32 p.m.

I also think there should be no HMs. Instead it should be: Cut = an ax Fly = Hang glider Surf = Surf Board Strength = don't know WhirlPool= don't know RockSmash= Pickaxe Waterfall= don't know RockClimb= Mountain Gear
  • Apollomon - June 9, 2010 5:36 p.m.

first of all...yes scizor is awesome, mine never awesomely powerful but i always have one cause i love him i further agree with oufour- being able to go back to a different region would be cool, and would increase the amount of different pokemon you can get in games and presents different challenges per game, increasing the odds people buy both i odnt like the idea of a different story/plot because i never really get into ther plot and would not see any point to a slightly different plot and would not see that as a reason to play through the game again multiple save files seems good idea, but whereas it true it only sprites and stats etc, there is a lot of saved data since it has to store specifics on each and every pokemon you own which maybe a large save- dunno battle scars- again i wouldnt see that as a big enough point to go through both games, and although would be a nice little thing, its the type of thing i would not buy a game for but would like to see as a tiny extra i dont think they should get rid of HMs cause it adds a bit more strategy to the game and makes it more interesting...i agree they can be annoying but without them might make the game too flat and boring (possibly) trading trainers or box items would be cool- so have differnt trainers intitially on each version and you can trade with someone for different trainers would be cool i think they should have some sort of residual save onto the DS or give you a blank GBA cart to plug in and if you play white certain data is transfered to the cart/DS and if you put in black you get something for having played white...cause i can justify buying both version for cool unlocks and such but if you wanted to manage lots of stuff between them you need two DSs too which is lame
  • Robusken - June 9, 2010 1:56 p.m.

A different story please! Like maybe make a different starting town for each game, and then the gyms could be in a scrambled order.
  • Phazon117 - June 9, 2010 2:06 a.m.

    Multiple files, please.
  • gopikmin - June 8, 2010 9:55 p.m.

I would like HM minigames in black and white so that the game would not get so boring. These minigames would be able to turn on and off in options. also in the Game Corner, there will version exclusive games in addition to slots. maybe forms of certain pokemon are version exclusive and the forms have different movesets.
  • StriderHoang - June 8, 2010 4:05 p.m.

By significant difference, I have a gut feeling certain story events will differ, but only small details, though several of them. Maybe the legendaries go on a rampage? And the different versions have a different town demolished? Maybe the evil organization behind the game does things differently a la Ruby/Sapphire? I don't really think the changes will be as significant as putting you in a different role in the other version. It'll probably be a story element on the frame, not the core.

I think another change that should be made is individual Pokemon's battle damage. Nothing like missing limbs or anything, just little scars on certain areas of their bodies, like a Tropius with a shiny burned neck skin from a Magmar's grazed Fire Punch, or a nicked ear from a Scratch/Slash attack. I know, I don't mean to gruff the E Rating up, the battle scars could help you differentiate the monsters you use constantly from the ones you keep in the Box/ Balls too much. Also, seeing as Pokemon has become popular in more than just Japan, the main character choices should reflect that. Like a kid with an afro. or a Indian boy/girl (not Native American necessarily, regular Indian). GTS made it more easily multicultural accessible, why not the character models? Can a DS cart fit the people of the world? I'm a little tired of most of the in-game characters looking like Japanese kids/mothers/old men. And like I said before, transferrable clear data. But NOT like Oracle of Seasons/Ages or Golden Sun 1-2 with passwords. Get a friend to transfer it to theirs and theirs to yours, and trade the actual cartridge to continue the game. It would still be fun on its own, just more expansive when transferred. And you keep all your Boxes and PokeDex entries when you transfer cartridges.

I think what would be really interesting is two completely different over-worlds, essentially making it two different games. It could be two new and separate regions introduced, and in each region is where each of the legendary Pokemon dwells. Another idea I thought of could be story related, where each region is warped or looks different because of the Pokemon's affects on it. For example, imagine the dark world of A Link to the Past, or Twilight Princess, and how it was being cause by the dark Pokemon. You could have a Pokemon over-world that aesthetically reflects that, as well as affects the situations and behavior by the people and their Pokemon. And on the flip side, the light Pokemon will have an opposite effect on the region and it's people/Pokemon. I know both my ideas are ambitious and probably are further than something more simplistic that will be included (like different game evolutions or something else relating to catching them all), but too different has never been an issue for Pokemon games because there hasn't been extreme changes to the formula or story. Yes the meta game has dramatically improved and changed, but you can go the whole game without experiencing that side of Pokemon. I say different is not too different for Pokemon, because frankly story wise and gameplay wise, this series needs a shake up. On a side note, I remember when I first beat Pokemon Gold; I thought it was all said and done, but all of a sudden I get a ticket to go to Kanto. I thought the game was kidding, but it wasn't! And it was the best thing about that game. What made it so great was that not only was there essentially a whole other game included, but the story of Kanto was continued, and everything changed. It was something that to this day cemented it (for me) as the best Pokemon game, because no other game did something so different. Black and White needs something like that to separate it from the series, and at the same time represent what makes this series so great.

Brett on a Pokémon podcast, it had to happen. I can't wait to listen to what he has to say
  • garfunkling - June 8, 2010 7:27 a.m.

Separate stories would be really cool but I think highly unlikely. I imagine there are going to be towns available to each that the other doesn't have access too. I wouldn't be surprised if to get to these towns you needed a special hm that blah blah only each could have access to. Definitely agree with Brett. Its not going to be anything game changing.
