Pokemon Bank and Transporter coming in December

If you're eager to transfer all your trusty Pokemon from Black and White to Pokemon X and Y when it releases on Oct. 12, you'll have to wait a bit. Nintendo today announced when Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter will launch on the eShop in North America.

The storage and transfer apps allow users to store up to 3,000 Pokemon online, and upload all of their scrappy monsters from Black and White 1 and 2 to the service in one easy sweep. The bundled apps come with a free month-long trial if used before Jan. 31, 2014, but you'll have to pay an annual fee of $5 to use the service after that. Check Nintendo's FAQ for more details.

Looks like you'll have some time to get acquainted with your Kalos Pokemon before the old guard can join them.

With all of the emphasis Game Freak is putting on building 'relationships' with your Pokemon, it seems ridiculous to me that I can't use any of the Pokemon I've trained for years until the end of December. I guess I should be happy that the feature will be available at all though.

I've practically MAXED out my Black 2's 24 boxes with every single Pokemon, even event extras. That being said, I don't mind the wait. Though I do wonder how many boxes Pokemon X and Y have.

So I'll have until December 27 to try and build up some of the new pokemon so they can try and earn a place in my team? Challenge accepted. Although Typhlosion's still a mainstay. Erupt all the things!

Great, now I'll have to wait until next year to battle my friends with my a team.

The value in the pokebank is security not box limits. If you aren't using your shiny event mon, put it online so if you lose the game or have it stolen, you don't lose out on the pokemon in the process.

Henry, I think R.O.B. wants a word with you....

So Henry how does it feel to be wrong about the $5 thing? But I am really glad this is something I don't mind paying for since now I can have all my pokemon forever and still clear out the old games.

Huh. I don't mind it coming a little later because I didn't want to transfer my Pokémon until I'd beaten the main story anyway, but over two months is slightly too long to wait for people getting the game at launch. It might take you, what, about 1-2 weeks to beat at most; I wanted to use my fifth gen Pokémon to breed IVs so I'll have to put off getting a team ready for battling (but I guess chances are you'll catch a few with perfects during the story anyway...) I'm assuming the game has a decent selection of Pokémon available in the wild as it is too, so there'll be less point in importing Pokémon to fill out the dex. Hopefully. And by the time it's available everyone will have forgotten about any delay anyway. Dunno if I'd keep paying for this after transferring my Pokémon though...I've never really reached my Box limits before.

i never used up my boxes either but i been planing on using this to do multiple playthroughs without killing my guys. bright side this gives us a good opportunity to explore every inch of these new buddies for possible strategies. 2 months... meh still shouldn't bee too bad, it'll be fun doing a couple random match ups with mainly new mons

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that "feature", haha. It would definitely be useful if you decided to play through the game again. I'm not sure that I like the idea of storing my Pokémon on a cloud-based system though; they'd feel safer saved on my game. Still, with the assumption being that Bank will work with all future Pokémon games, it's a neat (and cheap) service for easy transfer and storage. The Pal Park and Poké Transfer were kind of awful. And yeah, I'd probably just end up doing a few battles with my story team just to see the sort of teams other people are using. Or if there's a Battle Facility I'd probably pass the time farming Battle Points, lawls. Actually...because the game releases simultaneously worldwide I suppose nobody will have worked out how the new metagame will roll yet...so everyone else's teams will suck as well, heheh.
