PlayStation Move 'sharp shooter' gun to occupy living room corners this February

Sony has announced that a PlayStation Move gun attachment peripheral thing will be released alongside Killzone 3 this February. The PS1-ish looking $39.99 add-on to the $99.99 Move bundle will Super Scopeify shooters like Killzone 3, SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs and Dead Space Extraction.

"The PlayStation Move sharp shooter provides the most intuitive and immersive control experience for shooter games," says Sony's press release. Perhaps "intuimmersive" should be Sony's new Move tag line. But it isn't just intuimmersive:

"The streamlined design features easily accessible buttons, responsive digital trigger, realistic pump-action, firing mode selector, adjustable shoulder stock and convenient access to the navigation controller, allowing gamers to take aim and move into the firefight for hours of comfortable and engaging gameplay."

It's also comforgaging! We suppose it looks ergonomic enough, and generally cool, if sort of bland. Though the glowing Move ball sticking out of the end screams "NERF."

Not thrilled by this. Holding your arms up for the bullpup is going to get tiring fast...

I'm don't like the fact that to reload you have to take your hand off the analogue stick. I'm guessing the rail at the top is for a scope attachment, looks like Sony want to nickel & dime us for extra parts. Other than that it looks alright.

Move never got me interested until now, might just buy this, that is if i'm not to hooked on wow;cataclysm ;p

vent, it's so wii parents buy it, then realize they have to buy the ps3, then voila, more potential sales. as almost everyone here. i dig this. IF IT WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD tho, then i'll fucking love it AND it'll have it's own space... on my bed ;)

I actually kinda like it. Now I want a move for dead space and re5 gold... and Yaro's on to something there, but seriously, having all that stuff for the move would actually make it more comfortable to use in general cause of that shoulder stock... hm, ideas ideas.

@ventanger: Why is it white? Isn't it obvious? Like any toy gun, it is not black because toy guns are not allowed to look like real guns (at least in Canada that is the case). This actually looks like a very nice design. The shoulder rest in order to reduce arm fatigue. Smart placement of the control stick. The only problem I see is that the design lends itself best to assault rifles, and might feel weird while controlling pistols and sniper rifles.
  • SideOfBeef - December 10, 2010 4:03 a.m.

How does a fake assault rifle have "realistic pump action?" If it was a fake shotgun that would almost make sense, aside from having no practical use. If you want some sort of reload, wouldn't a mag release button make more sense and work better?
  • papergoon - December 10, 2010 2:55 a.m.

the orange stripe ain't doing it for me. looks too much like a toy, then again, at least i won't be wielding a blue balled dildo
  • Robx - December 10, 2010 2 a.m.

    What ventanger said.
  • Yaro - December 10, 2010 1:44 a.m.

Too bad you can't actually reload the gun in real time, that would be totally badass...
  • Jadernader - December 10, 2010 1:35 a.m.

its cool... looks like a lil M4 xbox needs one... then i might consider getting kinect
  • ventanger - December 10, 2010 1:19 a.m.

    But why make it white?
  • BishopofHippo93 - December 10, 2010 12:45 a.m.

Without a doubt, one of the most impressive peripherals I've seen to date. But will it work?
  • EnragedTortoise1 - December 10, 2010 12:45 a.m.

OH SHIT I JUST NOTICED THIS. The little edged railing at the top of the gun is a place where you can attatch Nerf accessories. Not kidding.
  • Crabhand - December 10, 2010 12:40 a.m.

First thing I thought of was the Wii Zapper. This at least looks like it's trying a little harder to work rather than a poorly shaped piece of plastic.
  • MrDuracraft - December 10, 2010 12:38 a.m.

Why would anybody want to have to actually pump their gun in a game? I wouldn't like having to manually reload or cock a gun every time I run out of bullets. But, to be honest, it does look like every button is within easy reach and could be easy to use.
  • EnragedTortoise1 - December 10, 2010 12:35 a.m.

Looks like the gun the Ghost Recon cabinet uses. Awesome.
  • NappyAfro - December 10, 2010 12:33 a.m.

Hmm.... looking at it, it does look like it'll work quite well. Wish I had a PS3 so I could give it a try for myselve.
  • g4m3rk1dd - December 10, 2010 12:30 a.m.

give something like this to 360 for gears of buy the slim kinect and gun all at once and would never complain about them breaking...
  • loonyman978 - December 10, 2010 12:27 a.m.

As loathe as i am to admit it, that does look like it could work quite well
