Pikmin 2 Wii-make (finally) coming to North America

North American Pikmin fans are due to finally get their hands on the New Play Control version of Pikmin 2. Nintendo Power announced the long-awaited arrival in its latest issue, pegging the GameCube remake for a release later this year.

The New Play Control series of games have seen many Gamecube classics outfitted with motion controls and re-released on the Wii. So far, virtually all of the UK and PAL territory titles have made their way out West – including the New Play Control version of the original Pikmin – but it's taken Pikmin 2 over three years to cross the pond.

Pikman 2's North American arrival is thought to be Nintendo's way of getting fans excited for Pikmin 3 on its forthcoming console, the Wii U. Earlier this month, Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed a version of the new Pikman game will be shown at E3 2012.

Finally. Wish I would have hung on to the first Pikmin, so I can get used to the controls again. The only thing that would make it better is if they offered both Pikmin & Pikmin 2 on the same disk, maybe some kind of collectors edition or something.

bah, "not really a problem" I meant to say. My first try I completed it with about 11 days to spare.

@Darkhawk, Pikmin 2 still has a time constraint 15 minute "days," although the focus is more on underground dungeons where time stands still and there is no constraint on how many days you can take. Pikmin 1 had a limit of 30 days and to be honest, it was really a problem beating the game before the days where up. Don't miss out on Pikmin due to that.

Could you still use a gamecube controller on the wii-makes? Or is that not possible? Won't affect how excited I am to finally play it but I'm just curious.

I asked that question after the crappy implementation of motion control on Mario Tennis. Answer: NO Gamecube controllers allowed.

That's a bummer :/ Oh well. Guess I'll have to make due with the motion controls. Fingers crossed the motion controls won't be so terrible.

If you wanted to play it with GC controller's, but the GC version, this is just the game with Wii Controls. Also, this game actually WORKS BETTER with Motion, or atleast with being able to move the throwing icon however you please rather than it being stuck in one Position in the GC version. The only Wii-make that actually added new things and did a better job was Donkey Kong Jungle beat, suprisingly.

It's pretty obvious they brought this out so you could play every Pikmin game on Wii U. Should've come out a lot earlier though.

GREAT! I've never played any Pikmen, and held off on NPC Pikmin 1 because of its highly-criticised time constraint system. Looking forward to it.

    Dude, that's a great idea. I would LOVE a pikmin 3ds version.

They should do a seperate, unique Pikmin game for the 3DS

Finally! being able to move the pikmin throwing circle freely was a huge relief and Pikmin 2 was an awesome sequel, I havnt played the original pikmin 2 yet so this is a buy for me. Dont rush Nintendo, I want pikmin 3 to be excellent.
