Phantasy Star Online 2: New trailer is filled with fabulous fighting

More footage of Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2 has surfaced. The following recording was broadcast off-stage by Sega at this year’s Tokyo Game Show and presents a ruined, grayed-out cityscape overrun by apocalyptic-looking beasties along with some attack animations for various classes.


Phantasy Star Online 2 is currently slated to release before the end of the year – but only on the PC, and only in Japan. Participants in the closed alpha had to win a lottery before they could even start ticking off bugs in the game's extensive character-creation mode. Still, bearing in mind that the original PSO saw no end of relaunches – including a GameCube port that basically saw an Online Adapter created just to facilitate the “O” part of “PSO” – it's a pretty good bet that the game will see a localized release sooner or later.

    It's a pretty old game... but I'm sure that some people still play it. I have a friend that still plays it online. http://slenderhcg.org

    Considering I never got to play the original PSO online, it would definitely be nice to get a second chance here. Though I will miss being able to play as a Beast (Universe series, I know, but still would be awesome to import that race into the PSO series). This is probably one of the few MMORPGS I would play, too, considering it's none of that "click til someone dies" gameplay in WoW and every other MMO. At least, it doesn't look that way...don't let me down, Sega...

    PSO2 + Japan Only = Me Sad Sigh, I miss raining down plasma-ey death with the Heaven Punisher, those were good times.

    I can understand PS:P2I being JP only, but this is unacceptable.

    I was looking forward to a proper sequel to PSO... Hopefully, they'll bring it here later.

    Wait... Only in Japan? I knew about PC only... Well that blows I hope it makes it out else where I loved Phantasy Star Online along with Phantasy Star Universe so this seems like a no brainer to get in the future!
