I will ABSOLUTELY buy a 3DS. I will totally get one near launch day if the price stays at $300, but if they lower the price at all, I will get one launch day (or week) if I have to eat my way through the protective 3DS casing.
  • dyingisfunny - October 2, 2010 12:15 a.m.

the only thing that will happen if they lower the price is that I can buy more games at the launch!
  • AnthonyTony - October 1, 2010 6:24 a.m.

It is awfully close to "too expensive" though If it was a little cheaper and had a Christmas launch window then it would take a huge number of sales away from Kinect, because there aren't that many hundred dollar bills to go around during the silly season. I'm sure many kids would prefer to play Mario in 3D rather than pretend to pet Skittles. At that high price point, it may be the first time in a generation that Sony could come in and undercut the prices of the competition with a new PSP2
  • awsomemaster - October 1, 2010 3:04 a.m.

@McSpudds *sigh* (im getting really tired of saying this) the 3ds is a new system not just another ds game & watch game boy (game boy, game boy color) game boy advance(game boy advance, game boy advance sp, game boy micro) nintendo ds(ds, ds lite, dsi, dsiXL) nintendo 3ds(3ds)
  • QWERTYCommander - October 1, 2010 1:37 a.m.

@Tacobob Both of the Resident Evil games are new, not remakes, idiot.
  • AWBrawler - September 30, 2010 9:41 p.m.

@Tacobob I agree. I been playing Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, and Chibi Robo sense 1985. When Will they bring something new??/sarcasm each Gen Nintendo has churned out at least 3 new franchises. The other 2 don't even really make games, and when they do we see 4 freaking halos on one Xbox. Don't go pointing out mario games either, because there are only 4 mario games on Wii. Mario Kart is its on series as are the party and sports games, and this is the most Mario we ever had on one console
  • McSpudds - September 30, 2010 9:24 p.m.

Why does Nintendo keep making new DSes I dont even have the DSI.
  • Hayroon1 - September 30, 2010 8:58 p.m.

You are aware that 25'00 yen equals around $215 right?
  • GameManiac - September 30, 2010 6:22 p.m.

be it $300 or $250, I'll get it on launch day. I'm more concerned about If I can get one before they sell out. I'll probably order a 3DS through or Gamestop.
  • Tacobob - September 30, 2010 2:20 p.m.

And they don't even bother putting out new games. Just the same old ones NOW IN CRAPTASTIC 3D! Oooh!
  • AWBrawler - September 30, 2010 1:16 p.m.

I doubt it'll be $300 unless it comes with a game. most likely it'll be $250! When the DS launched it cost more than the $99 Gamecube, and it sold well, so I'm sure this can sell 4 mill at $250
  • Heyexclamationpoint - September 30, 2010 4:41 a.m.

I'd buy one...though not if it retailed for $300.
  • markshell - September 30, 2010 3:30 a.m.

Well, about 90% of the users commenting here said that they will purchase the 3DS when it launches. That 4 million mark might be the easiest achievement for Nintendo ever.
  • Crimmy - September 30, 2010 3:26 a.m.

    Gimme gimme!
  • QWERTYCommander - September 30, 2010 3:22 a.m.

Well, since Japan prices usually go down when they're in the US, it will probably be about $230-$250. So yeah, I kinda still want it. Also, since the price will probably go down once I save up enough money to buy it, I think it will be good. But I don't think Nintendo could sell 4 million units.
  • D0CCON - September 30, 2010 12:59 a.m.

I'm going to use what I recently learned in my Business Management class that the US price isn't $300. Currency values in Japan and the US are different. (classroom example) A camera may go for the price of $250 in Japan but it'll cost $220 in America because the dollar is stronger than the yen. I didn't really need that class to tell me that, but it is extra reassurance. Either way, I've saved up $500 for a 3DS, if this means I have a little less for my savings than I was expecting and that I'll buy one launch game instead of two, so be it.
  • xerroz - September 30, 2010 12:43 a.m.

note that this is straight exchange, it will most likely be $249.99 or $199.99, with these 2 prices yes, they can get 4 mllion, probably more. (4 million 3DS > 4 million PSP2 in 10 years)
  • xerroz - September 30, 2010 12:08 a.m.

4 Million? Kind of doubt it, unless its on chrismas season. it could very well go over 2 million though. Im buying one on launch, the game lineup is just great
  • Doctalen - September 30, 2010 12:06 a.m.

Hope that happens. I really want Kinect to die. Anything that outsells it I just might buy to add to Kinect's down fall.
  • Smeggs - September 29, 2010 11:49 p.m.

LOL My dying ass! Microsoft would be lucky to sell three-million Kinect units in three months. And what is this inconcievable bull about the 3DS being $300? I didn't pay that much for my brand new Xbox 360 a few years ago, no way in hell will I be forking over that much green for a small, handheld, might-drop-it-on-the-ground console. How can Nintendo seriously be considering that price? The newer Playstation 3 is $299 and the PS3 still doesn't sell as good as Sony had hoped, does Nintendo really think it's going to roll out four-million $300 handhelds in the first month of their release? Damn...with that much money I could go buy myself another two Xbox Arcades in case something happens to my 360 I have currently. Even if the price does drop, anything above maybe $150 is just ridiculous sounding to me.
