New Resistance 3 screens bypass media, go straight to Facebook

It's something we've heard for years: eventually, the game industry is going to get sick of dealing with our stupid, opinionated asses and find a way to take its unfiltered message straight to the public, bypassing the troublesome enthusiast press entirely. And if the five new Resistance 3 images Insomniac has made available are any indication, "eventually" is now, and the way is Facebook.

With a big R3 reveal at the Spike VGAs just around the corner, the Resistance/Ratchet & Clank developer is sharing three new screens and two pieces of concept art (as well as an exclusive PS3 theme) with any users who "like" its Facebook page. Of course, that means we can grab them too, so if you'd rather skip the extra step of making Insomniac feel loved, you can check out the rest of the screens below:

Replayed the first one a few months ago. It's a quirky and atmospheric cross between Halo, Halflife 2 and "world war 2 game". It is somehow much better now than when it was released and the multiplayer is still excellent and has the best menu system of any game on PS3(bypasses XMB completely lol). R2's campaign however is an even more blatant COD ripoff than when it was releasded, the multiplayer is broken and while the ridiculous amounts of enemies on screen in the coop was cool, (and the ability to kill all of them single handedly as a medic if you knew what you were doing) it was just boring after a couple of games. If R3 goes 100% in the direction of RFOM with better graphics and with a more varied version of the coop from R2, it'll be my favourite FPS on PS3. Judging by these screenshots and the trailer it looks as though it is heading that way.

<--- Also refusing facebook another victim er user or whatever, I just dont see the point of it, if you want to know what your freinds are doing (which I don't) then give them a call for chrissakes! Screens look good, dunno if I'll pick it up though, I was really dissapointed with the first one and did not try the second.

@vulneratus-I thought I was the ONLY man on Earth still resisting Facebook!!? Now I find there's another person holding back the tide? Maybee, just maybe, there are more of us around the nets hiding from the 'Book's penetrating fingers-perhaps all isn't lost, the world's not gone to hell in a handcart and there's hope for civilisation once more within my heart. I despise Facebook and it's uncaring attitude when it's used as a tool to ruin (esp young and naive)people's lives-a friend of my daughter tried to kill hersefl after being falsely "outed" as a lesbian at 14 the other year on Facebook. A lot of what people posted about her and her family was libellous or totally untrue yet Facebook did sod all to those perpetrasting the lies and didn't seem embarrassed(and they REALLY should) when their community showed how homophobic it was with the things said on the hate page so lovingly put up for this poor girl. She ended up having to leave the area and now the only people from her hometown she talks to are my daughter , my wife and myself. Bloody Facebook-not that, I guess, any of the other networking sites are much more responsible but they all need to understand the power they have and the power they offer people who really aren't clever or bright enough, let alone compassionate enough, to use it properly. Anyway, I love you GR for going into the murky waters of a site totally banned in my house spo I can see some R3 art! Don't forget us noble few who refuse to bow to public opinion and that NEVER watched BB, won't weatch the X Factor and don't use Facebook!!

Awww no! My stubborn refusal to join the world of Facebook is now meeting some serious Resistance (hee hee, ahem) I really want to "like" this so I can get that theme!! @KrEld Well they're bringing back the weapon wheel as far as I know, so there is that I suppose... although I don't really get all this 'R1 is better than R2, cos it lost it's character going big blah blah'... I thought it was pretty much improved all round Also anyone else think Capelli was a total asshole for the entire of resistance 2, and yet we have to play as him now?? Hopefully he'll have gotten some estrogen injections or some shit... or valium... or a brain A better option would have been Hale's half-human half-chimeran/ish son with that doctor chick!

Very very cool. Looks like they really updated the graphics! I hope they bring back the Hailstorm. I love that gun!

That weapon the brute chimaira is holding looks badass, i hope i would get to use it. Also those leaping? Chimaira look to be awesome too. More class based multiplayer with more abilities?

I hope it goes more similar to R1's mechanics rather than the second, didn't enjoy it so much :/ New Chimera models look great though!
