Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 – Boss Battle Barrage

We’re pretty excited about the latest Naruto fighting game from CyberConnect2 – and if you’re a fan of the number one unpredictable ninja from Konoha, you should be too. The story mode in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 will begin with Naruto’s return to his hometown of Konoha – and will cover all the best battles from the anime/manga series up until Naruto’s confrontation with Pain.

The boss battles are especially impressive, so we’ve packed all the latest gameplay videos and screenshots into one place. Check out the all the eye candy for a sneak peak at all the ani-mazing artwork in motion.

SPOILER ALERT: The images and videos in this article will contain spoilers for those who aren’t caught up with the Naruto Shippuden anime series

Some of these videos use the voice actors from the English dubbed version of the anime. But purists who prefer subs over dubs can choose to play through the game with English subtitles and menus with the original Japanese voice actors.

Above: Jiraiya vs Pain

Above: Deidara vs Gaara. This boss battle eventually takes to the air, featuring Gaara chasing down Deidara over the rooftops of the Sand Village

Above: Kakashi vs Naruto and Sakura. Naruto and Sakura team up to see if they can steal the strings of bells from their former sensei. Expect nostalgic flashbacks to the first time Kakashi tested Team 7’s teamwork

Above: Shikamaru vs Hidan. Even side characters get a moment to shine in Storm 2

Above: More Shikamaru vs Hidan footage

Above: You’ll be able to play as Sasuke for a bit in the game’s story mode. Here’s some gameplay from what appears to be a free battle

Above: A Japanese trailer for Storm 2 with English subtitles. You’ll see lots of quick cuts from boss battles, including Sakura and Chiyo vs Sasori the puppet master

Above: Another Storm 2 teaser that starts off with a Pain-ful beginning

Above: Sasuke works his ocular ninjutsu with the mangekyou sharingan

Above: The general movement animations for Konan look amazing, especially when she dematerializes into thousands of paper cards

They're seriously throwing a character from Tekken into a Naruto game? That could either turn out really awesome or really lame.

So in the first Hidan vs Shikamaru fight, traditionally, P1 is on the left side of the screen (health bar and stuff) but Hidan's bar was there, and I assume that the Hidan vs Shikamaru fight you'd be Shikamaru, so...interesting

Can't wait for this game. Shippuden has much better villains IMO, and the sheer number of characters (44) and who ALL have transformations? Guhhh....So much drool...

It's pretty cool that we're getting an anime game that actually follows the Japanese version of the series instead of the western version. I'm so used to playing anime games that focus on material that happened months, if not years ago.

@mgkyo666 you can debate how good Storm 2 is as a fighting game, but man! It has soooo much fan service for folks who follow the series. :)

Tyler, you just overfed my already rock-hard boner for this game. I'm going to REALLY enjoy playing this with my friends! Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go clean up the mess I just made all over my room....

"mengekyou sharingan" It's "mangekyou'! Jeez! Get it right! I jest, but anyhoo, this game actually looks like might not be terrible. Too bad that Fallout and Vanquish come out on the same day.
