So excited for this, Playing Big Boss during his MSF years in Peace Walker was great, but going there again with the new FOX Engine and a proper non-handheld game structure is going to be amazing!

Really wish there was an edit button, looking at my bad punctuation just rubs me the wrong way.

I know that feeling!!! Sometimes the internet really is "written in ink," though. Just be happy that it's actually possible to read it! I've made many late-night posts that aren't! :-P

MGS has always used in-game graphics to render cut scenes, even MGS4 so that's no big deal but if that image is any indication those graphics are going to be extravagant. Plus from theslight details of the "Open Ground Recon Experience" and the calling in vehicles thing it sounds like this may be the frutition of MGS4's original "No where to hide" concept that Kojima said was too ambitious for PS3... Also wounder if that subtitle is getting changed for America, you know 9/11 and everything.

    1. Thats not a screen shot. Its artwork. 2. 9/11 was almost 11 years ago. Alot of tweens alive today werent even born when the towers fell. Ground Zero is used to depict any type of disaster or major event, used primarily to describe the epicenter or major point of the disaster. The events of 9/11 doesnt have a trademark for "ground zero."
  • forestfire55 - August 30, 2012 9:41 p.m.

...ground zeros, not zero, if you follow the story you would get it.
  • inner_hope - August 30, 2012 9:35 a.m.

Apart from the eyepatch and the name "ground zeroes" suggesting this is big boss, the main evidence of that is his right shoulder insignia which is the pangea-like "Militar Sans Frontier" logo. So in my opinion theres no doubt he´s Big Boss.Remember Militar Sans Frontier later turned into Outer Heaven so...

YEP, was in the middle of posting this myself. Good catch!
  • Wasting_Light - August 30, 2012 9:33 a.m.

Looks great so far. Let's just hope Kojima steers away from the pretentious psuedo-philosophy BS that MGS4 had.
  • Godzillarex - August 30, 2012 9:27 a.m.

Pretty damn sure it's Big Boss. He is wearing his sneaking suit from Peace Walker, complete with MSF logo, has a full grown beard (a style only Big Boss has sported so far) and as mentioned below, the game is called "Ground Zero." So Zero will probably be involved. The only thing holding me back is the eye patch strap coming through the opposite side he usually wears it on. But hey, if somehow this is Solid Snake...YES! And of course, the screenshot looks amazing!
  • archnite - August 30, 2012 9:30 a.m.

This hre is everything I was thinking. And we all know who wears the eye patch on the other eye. Solidus.
  • Godzillarex - August 30, 2012 10:16 a.m.

UPDATE: This other screenshot clearly shows the eye patch strap coming from the other side: http://atomix.vg/2012/08/30/konami-detalla-un-demo-de-20-minutos-de-metal-gear-solid-ground-zeroes/
  • coyoteDUSTER - August 30, 2012 8:59 p.m.

    It's not a screenshot.
  • DoubleLedgeTakedown - August 30, 2012 8:34 a.m.

Yeah probably Big Boss, but OMG a new MGS with a playable Snake :')
  • musashi1596 - August 30, 2012 8:24 a.m.

Big Boss's mustache doesn't grow on his philtrum. That is the sole detail that gives me pause over this.
  • musashi1596 - August 30, 2012 8:27 a.m.

Actually scratch that, that only seems to be in Peace Walker.
  • bboyd - August 30, 2012 8:12 a.m.

It's definitely a Big Boss game. Look hard enough in the above image and you'll find the eye patch (starts around his upper right temple). Kotaku also has a second promotional image where the eye patch is plain as day.
  • Fox_Mulder - August 30, 2012 8:03 a.m.

Sexy. So I'm guessing this will be MGS 5? Or maybe an untold story from the past, like PW?
  • HorriBliss - August 30, 2012 12:19 p.m.

As someone else pointed out below, it's another subtitle, not MGS5 in the title. I'm pretty sure its Big Boss (he looks more old-school in that artwork, IMO), so I doubt that they'll continue Snake's story - bittersweet but justified, they can't really do much to that storyline anyway.
  • Fox_Mulder - August 30, 2012 5:38 p.m.

Oh I know there's no way they can bring Snake back without a lot of people shaking their heads, but months ago there were confirmed reports of a "MGS 5" in the works. I just meant in that sense, not an actual game that followed MGS 4's timeline. Thanks for clearing that up though.
  • HorriBliss - August 30, 2012 7:42 a.m.

YES! :D Not the biggest fan of MGR, but another MGS is always welcome - as long as Kojima is directing it, of course
  • winner2 - August 30, 2012 7:09 a.m.

    This makes my day
