Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC images offer first look at female Turian

A couple of images from the upcoming Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC provide a first look at an in-game female Turian. As you can see, other than missing the more extended sweepback horns, her appearance isn’t drastically different from a male Turian.

BioWare hasn’t officially announced Omega DLC details, although Mass Effect producer Michael Gamble revealed some details in an interview, saying the new content would be released 27 November and will cost 1200 Microsoft Points ($15/£10).

Well, if I remember correctly, female Turians HAD appeared in at least one of the spinoff comics that were published even before ME3 came out. And I think she also looked a lot like this, so I like the consistency ^^ Also, I don't get why you're complaining about how "similar" it looks to male turians, they actually DO look different. The male and female krogans and salarians are the ones that almost can't really be distinguished from one another visually :P

Agreed. The poor excuse for a female salarian was utterly disappointing. At least with the female krogan they tried to hide the fact that is was the same character model. Regardless, call it an excuse for laziness, but in the games and the novels, they do point out how over centuries and millennia of being a space-faring race, segregated communities among the species tend to wither, leading to everyone looking much more uniform over time. And this female turian character seems to be a good change of pace. So kudos, Bioware, for actually trying this time.

You guys seem to forget to aliens, all humans probably look similar. If you want to talk about something that they all share that is ridiculous, how about the fact that their actions and thoughts are basically human in nature despite light-years of separation and huge gaps in development. Which is far more less likely to happen than a species having two genders that look the same.

You got me on the humans thing, but as far as human behavior amongst the different species goes, the differences in culture between the races in the ME series are quite unique. You must also remember that the Reapers are supposedly 'guiding' the evolution of each species that is to be uplifted during each cycle so as to maintain control over them to an extent, so even if the aliens were 'human in nature,' it's not without some sort of reason.

this made me lol, because i totally agree, and i don't think they want you thinking about it this much:)

I've spent more time talking about Mass Effect than most people have spent playing Mass Effect. Whether they want me to put this much time into thinking about it or not, I have, and I have to admit, it may be more complex than Bioware even realizes.

It would be great if she became a permanent part of your team after beating the DLC mission, but sadly I suspect she won't be staying. ME2 had two DLC squadmates (Kasumi and Zaeed), and it would be sweet if ME3 got another to join Javik.

I'm impressed that Bioware actually MADE a female Turian. I was expecting them to cop out and hide a male Turian under a bunch of clothes and give it a female voice, ala the Dalatrass and Eve.

I find it annoying how nowadays studios remove content that should be in the game (not this one specifically) and then sell it back to you. It's like buying a car then they sell the engine separate to it! Leviathan DLC I am referring to you!!!!!

The female Turian looks awesome as hell~ I would just die if we actually get to keep this female turian as a permanent party member~ Guess we will see in just three weeks from today~

I don't know if it's been said or not, but will this DLC take place before or after the events of Mass Effect 3?
  • ChiChiRocket - November 6, 2012 6:55 p.m.

I'm fairly certain it will take place during the events of ME3.
