Mass Effect 2 launch trailer for PS3 arrives

The launch trailer for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 has arrived. Those who missed out on the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the epic space opera can look forward to receiving several extra perks when the series makes its PS3 debut later this month.

In addition to the game, players will receive a bunch of free DLC add-ons, including Lair of the Shadow Broker, Project Overlord, and Kasumi: Stolen Memory. PS3 owners will also get Mass Effect Genesis, an interactive comic from Dark Horse that will introduce new players to the Mass Effect universe. On top of all that, you can also download the Terminus Armor and M-490 Blackstorm Projector weapon for free via the PSN store until February 23, 2011.

The PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 is scheduled to release on January 18 in North America, January 21 in Europe, and January 20 in Australia. If you’ve never played Mass Effect before, we can’t recommend it enough. After all, it’s one of the few games to receive a perfect 10-out-of-10 review on GamesRadar.

I played the demo, game looks fantastic, but I am not buying it because they're not giving us the whole trilogy, and without the first one the story isn't engaging, And I'm not buying it for the crappy third-rate over the shoulder combat, seriously it's like playing "Eat Lead: Return of Max Hazard".

@yesvaginathereisasantaclaus The download on the PSN is about 12 GB.

I don't understand why Microsoft let this one slip. But i'm happy more people get to enjoy one of the greatest game series of all time, even if they are starting half way through a story built heavily upon the first game.

I wonder how the ME3 engine version on the PS3 will compare to the PC version with the settings cranked up.

Mass Effect 2 is by far the best game ever, although i'm sad to see that Mass Effect 2 is giving in to PS3, I will still love it and tali until ME3 which I will then love the same things. PS the reason it's better on PS3 is because its using the ME3 engine instead of the ME2 one on Xbox 360, oh well, I guess thats what you get for waiting some years...

I am so glad we are getting closer to allow PS3 owners to play one of the best stories of ALL TIME!! Also yes to NotBraze Tali is the way to go even though Miranda is pretty nice

Seriously? Shepard can catch Grunt from falling in the final sequence? That's surprising... Heavy Muscle Weave for the win?
  • NotBraze - January 12, 2011 8:48 p.m.

I predict comments complaining about Tali favoritism ;) Mass Effect 2 is truly a masterpiece of gaming and I'm very happy that next week more people will be able to experience it. I'm playing Red Dead Redemption now, and I haven't finished it yet but I'm enjoying it so far, but at this point it still doesn't even come close to ME2.

I am going to buy this for sure, and I'm positive it willbe great, but it really sucks how its 60 bucks again. Also, it comes out on the same day as LBP2 so i can't play both!!

@KillerQueen: Actualy, the game itself will be downloadable off the PSN on launch day. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/01/12/mass-effect-2-ps3-hits-psn-and-blu-ray-on-january-18th-more-than-a-simple-port/?utm_source=twitter

I am surprised they are releasing this game on the PSN. I wonder how big the download will be and how long it will take to download.
