Legend of Zelda Manga Box Set commits Hyrulean myth to paper

Viz Comics has announced a 10-issue box set collecting manga studio Akira Himekawa's adaptations of the Legend of Zelda series. The set spans the timeline from Link to the Past up until Phantom Hourglass, offering the best way to catch up on the series' history short of negotiating any Water Temples, formulating a position on Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, or anything else relating to the actual playing of the games themselves.

The box set is available now at an RRP of $US69.99 from participating retailers, but shop around: at time of writing, Amazon has the set for $44. The set contains two-issue arcs for Ocarina of Time and Four Swords, together with full-length manga adaptations of Majora's Mask, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, both Oracle titles, Link to the Past, and a collectible poster. Himekawa is a pseudonym for A. Honda and S. Nagano, the two-woman team favored by Nintendo to produce adaptations of Zelda up until Phantom Hourglass. The English adaptations finished their print run in September 2010, but this is the first time the collection has been made available in a single package.
