How does this PlayStation Move footage make you feel?

A video of some Spanish people playing the PlayStation Move games Sports Champion and Move Party! popped up on YouTube recently. It's over 10 minutes long, but the bits showing gameplay can be found at the following times: Gladiator Duel 01:07, Archery 03:12, Table Tennis 04:40, Bocce 06:12, Volleyball 06:57, Move Party! 09:30. Have a look:

So how does it make you feel about PlayStation Move? Excited? No. Thought not. Admittedly the video itself could have benefited from some tighter editing, but the actual games hardly helped relieve any of the soul-crushing tedium. I bashed my head on my desk at around the four minute mark just to remind myself that I was still alive.

I appreciate that the purpose of both these titles is to demonstrate Move in a simple manner, but shouldn't that be all the more reason to make them look inspiring - to make gamers think 'actually that PlayStation Move looks like hot shit'. At the very least it should make the people playing it display some signs of enjoyment. Not despair.

But let's not be too despondent - at least we've still got the unbridled joys of the completely controller free Natal to look forward to. It'll be so liberating. Right...?

I have nothing to add.

My friend walked in on watching move video and he such a complete sony fanboy- he said the video not very good, but move is 1 to 1 so it so brilliant whereas wii games are just a little waggle... i said the wiimotion plus is 1:1 and the waggle games are mostly tacky games people trying to make a quick buck- he said even red steel 2 just uses waggle, and when i said it dont he was like how do you know since you not played why do you tihnk move is gonna be sooo great when you havnt even seen the controller in person...admitedly the wii is not perfect and sony/microsoft are trying to copy wii's success for more sales- but if your going to copy something at least do it well as previously said, move in archery shows 2 controllers needed- i told my friend this previously when we watched a video saying to him thats a joke needed 2 controllers for 1 person...the move seems exactly the same as wiimotes except will cost more cause it sony and apparently you need two for many things...natal will prob cost a fair bit (but cheaper than move) however you need a HUGE space to play it...and in that video there were recievers round the room wasnt there? so its a lot of equipment that has to be unintruded around your really need a completly empty room to play that would mean after these videos i really have no confidence in either but i am hoping my feelings to move are wrong and rectified with some good games but i feel it gonna be like eye of judgement where they used the camera to make it sooo amazing and then it was never used again, or like the 6-axis they tacked onto the controller after wii was announced people can say motion controls for the wii are a gimmick, but at least they are a re-usuable affordable one if they are

Watching these videos was a test of endurance and a soul crushing experience. I hope Sony's E3 press conference is not filled with any Move stuff

Wow, people playing natal look more stupid then people playing Just Dance. And that's saying something.

Part of the reason why WiiMotes work is because they're for a game system that costs about the same as most DVD players did when they came out. Combine the price of a XBox 360 + Natal, or PS3 + Move, and you're right out of most shopper's comfort zones.

You have to understand that this is not meant for us. We are hardcore gamers and therefore not the target demographic here. That being said, we are probably getting ahead of ourselves here. This looks bad yes, but lets at least let a few real games come out before we completely shit on this.

    Can motion controls die now?
  • Cyberninja - June 7, 2010 11:06 p.m.

as long as the ape escape for move is good nothing else matters to me about the bad quality of the rest of the games

worried for Nintendo, also a little bit angry that theyre just blatantly ripping off the Wii
  • reverandglass - June 7, 2010 9:12 p.m.

If I was a gambling man I'd be with db on this. Both will sink into infamy. Xbox and ps3 owners a) don't want motion control or b) have or are going to buy a wii.

why in god's name do companies insist on letting people who don't give a shit about games play their latest creations first?! this video is so very boring because even at the very beginning the players don't give a shit... others out there would give their right arm to have a crack at not-yet-released games. also, i'm slightly worried that it takes about a minute from choosing a game mode to actually playing... lame.

the playstation controller has been virtually the same since inception. same layout, few extra buttons, some mysterious sixaxis controls to shoehorn into titles. i always thought that sony, like myself, found their initial design to be perfectly suited for gaming. and then they got massive erections looking at how many wii's sell each year and suddenly that classic control design no longer cuts it. i feel myself dying a little inside.
  • theemporer - June 7, 2010 8:06 p.m.

With what they were saying in the second video, they should have called natal the move.
  • Tronto13 - June 7, 2010 7:44 p.m.

personally 'move' is looking like a HD wii, and from the video she was using 2 of the bubble end controllers to play archery not one of each type. This makes it look like youll need at least 2 sets of controllers. At least natal needs no controllers and no batteries so the bigger price tag makes more sense. @db1331 the natal is clearly gonna be better, it senses your body movement so does not mean you have to be waving and waggling around like you do with the move, it will be able to use natal with a controller so take stress off having too few buttons to do too much stuff.
