Homeworld 1 and 2 HD remakes coming from Gearbox

Gearbox has plotted a return course for Homeworld, the cult classic spacefaring RTS series. The developer announced at Comic-Con over the weekend that it is producing HD remakes of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 for digital distribution platforms, Polygon reports.

The Homeworld IP went up for sale in the later rounds of THQ's bankruptcy proceedings. Gearbox said its first priority would be to make the "purest form" of the titles easily available for today's PC gamers after nabbing the franchise for $1.35 million.

Both titles look pretty crisp and stylish for their advanced age, given that they were set entirely in space, so hopefully Gearbox won't need too much time to spruce them up.

This is... really old news. How bizarre, it's everywhere. They mention it again at Comic-Con, Polygon publishes a news piece announcing news from... what, 6 months ago? And then everyone does it again. Odd.
