Halo 4: See the first new video in almost a year!

“What do we keep? What do we throw away? What do we add?”

For the first time in a decade, Halo is poised to evolve, and this behind-the-scenes documentary from new developer 343 Industries is our first truly in-depth look at what major changes could be in store for the series. Listen to the creators discuss their darker, more sophisticated and story-driven vision of Master Chief’s future, but also watch carefully for tantalizing new glimpses of Halo 4’s multiplayer, weapons, vehicles, SPARTAN armor and even facial animation.

What part of the above video has you most excited for Halo 4? And what are you still dying to see revealed? Share your impressions - or your fanboy hate, if that’s your thing - in the comments below.

They need a forge mode. Reach's forge was easier to use and gave the player much more to use than previous titles. I'd want more pieces, more scenery (like computers and such), and more tools. I created over 200 maps on forge world because I'd get started and my imagination would run wild. More often than not, I made houses and cities and even military bases. They should also have a premium forge pack that comes with another forge map and new pieces and scenery. If this was included, that alone would be enough to buy it.

The "reason reds can be fighting blues" had BETTER include some roosterteeth. Optimally a Gotham Impostors style tutorial with the teams bickering over who gets the new guy.

is anyone else having trouble playing the video?

Up until now, I've been very nervous about the direction my favorite franchise was heading. This fills me with hope. Frank O'Connor seems to have a pivotal role in development and it looks like they aren't just trotting out the same old assets. After 4 years of expansions and stop-gaps, I think this might be the real Halo game we've been waiting for since 3.

Mother of God... Anyways, I am looking forward to this game more than just about any game coming out this year. Of course if they bring back Forge then I'll go nuts. You gotta love Forge mode...

Gamesradar, do not give this game a lower score than NHL 13, or your offices may be the next target of Xbox Elitists.

My brother is a serious game freak. He knows all there is to know and even gets paid to play games at home, Here's the site to read more http;//tiny,cc/v2yrz

Wow. When they started talking about how they really wanted someone who is playing to feel like a real super soldier, did anyone else think of Crysis?

This reminds me why there was ever a scope on the battle rifle if we shot fine just without it. Ah well. Also at 3:26 - Was that a golden magnum or just solar glare? Please don't milk us with golden gun packs like in RDR, 343?

I loved how they're creating the multiplayer levels from scratch. I hated how the maps in Reach were all from the campaign. One of my favorite parts of the first three Halos was exploring those maps, finding all the little easter eggs and discovering how those maps were related to the Halo universe.

That was easily my least favourite thing about Reach. It felt lazy to me, like they couldn't be bothered drawing up any new ideas. I am so very excited for this.

There is a puddle of drool in my lap. It's slightly uncomfortable, but I'm too exited to stop. ^_^

O.O That's all I can say! This looks fantastic! I also noticed how just amazing the animations are, even in the multiplayer models. I'm going to hold my judgment until the game is released, but right now, it's looking downright amazing and may (Warning: Heretical Opinion! Discretion is advised!) even turn out to be better than Halo 3!

Story aside, the gameplay looks like it's gonna be great. I'm a little sketchy on the Spartan 4's though. Those didn't look like the Spartan 4's from the book. If they start retconning things left and right, I won't be buying it.
  • Blazdav - March 5, 2012 4:49 p.m.

I think this is the first time there have been Spartan 4's. Were you thinking of the Mark IV Armor?
  • MrDobble - March 5, 2012 10:23 a.m.

Was sceptical when I found out Bungie wouldn't be doing Halo 4. But after watching this, I couldn't be more excited! :D
  • ObliqueZombie - March 5, 2012 9:42 a.m.

Dear Lord, I'm so excited. I can't wait to see what 343 will be bringing to the table.
  • MyCoolWhiteLies - March 5, 2012 9:17 a.m.

I like what I'm hearing so far. As much as I love the other Halo's and Bungie's work, I think the series needed an injection of fresh ideas. I like the creative direction they seem to be taking with this one, and i hope it ends up evolving the series to something even greater.
