Halo 4 box-art: Love it or hate it?

As box-art reveals go, Microsoft recently e-mailing 32 separate pieces of a single image to Xbox Live members is a pretty novel idea. Of course, given the Internet's impressive track-record at solving some of the most insanely oblique and cryptic puzzles ever devised, it's no surprise that putting the pieces together didn't take too long. The following Halo 4 image was swiftly assembled and has since been confirmed by developer 343 Industries as the 'key art' which will be used for the game's packaging.

So while this is not exactly how the Halo 4 box will look (it needs all the logos and the Xbox 360 banner at the top), it is the art that will feature when the game is released later this year, on November 6. Have a look:

    343 really has their work cut out for them if they want to pull us back in for another three games. This art alone is one damn good way to start.

    It's by no means bad. In fact, I like it. There's just something...off with Master Chief. Maybe it's the armor redesign that I know accompanies every new Halo game, but it doesn't look like Master Chief to me. However, at LEAST it's not some generic solder dude walking forward with his head turned at a slight angle holding a weapon. Battlefield, Call of Duty, where is your creativity? I think it died out years ago, but that's a whole other argument.

    It looks like a scene from an actiony James Cameron movie. No not Michael Bay, there's very little fire in this. It's good, but I don't love it.

    At least it doesn't have menacing floating head of the antagonist and a faded love interest in the right corner. I like it!

    It looks great. The "less is more" approach for box-art has gotten kind of stale, in my opinion. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

    on the left looks like a crashing human ship, and on the right looks like a crashing covenant ship... i have no idea what the plot details, but i do rather enjoy this box art.

    Meh. Seems generic to me, but then again I tend to prefer the more artistic and subtle stylings of collector's edition packaging over standard editions.

    I do give 2 sharts about the Halo franchise, and this boxart looks fantastic!
