Gran Turismo 6 is coming to PlayStation 3 this holiday season, Polyphony Digital announced today. Studio President Kazunori Yamauchi took to the stage at the U.K.'s Silverstone Circuit to reveal the newest game in the 15-year-old series.
Each element of Gran Turismo 5--from user interface, to rendering, to suspension physics, to aerodynamics--will be updated. The cars will look way more like cars.
Speaking of automobiles: Gran Turismo 6 will have the most impressive garage to date, with more than 1,200 cars available at launch, at least 200 more than GT5. They'll have plenty of room to roam across 33 locations and 71 courses.
If that still isn't enough space, a new course maker will allow players to create and share their own tracks with "pulling from several kilometres worth of gorgeous scenery."
Player-made communities and events will bolster online multiplayer, and players can keep up to date with their racing scene of choice when they're out and about on mobile devices or browsers.
Sony made no mention of PlayStation 4 support, but promised to reveal more about its flagship racing title at E3 next month.
