Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime trailer teases game locations

Atari's upcoming download-only title Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is set to succeed where the third Ghostbusters movie repeatedly failed an increasingly despairing public. That is to say, by all accounts, it exists, and will be released in due time. Given how many failures-to-launch the movie has endured, that's actually a fair accomplishment.

If you were anxious that the game might eschew familiar Ghostbusters locations such as New York's slime-caked sewers, this “locations” trailer is here to reassure you otherwise. You shall fight them on the streets, you shall fight them in the creepy abandoned hotels, and – yes! – you shall fight them where New Yorkers' hot dogs go to die.

Whereas the movie's inability to materialize can probably be pinned on a cast that’s overprotective of the series' legacy, the game dispatches with all that by casting you and your pals as a whole new team of rookie 'busters. Hell, if the trailer is anything to go by, even Ray Parker Jr's theme tune gets a sound-alike do-over for the game. If that's what it takes to get a Ghostbusters product out there nowadays, maybe Aykroyd and co. should be taking notes. What do you think of the new-look Ghostbusters? Let us know.

hopeful, the last game was good(hey its just my opinion, get over it) bit did lack some finese, and things were kinda repetitive but atleast it was different then point and shoot till target stops twitching. i think this game has the potential to be pretty good

Wait...there's another Ghostbusters game coming out? This is the first I've ever heard of it. Consider me...not caring. Since I don't care about this game in the slightest it means that it actually HAS the potential to, how you say, WOW me.

There are certain franchises that I'm just glad to see more of. Will they ever hold a candle to the originals? No, of course not. But if I see new Ninja Turtles or Ghostbusters stuff, of *course* I'm going to pick it up. There's a 75% chance it won't be cool, but just like pizza, even when it's bad, it's still kinda good.

    Do (not) care. Second first!
