Bro tears were shed. This was awesome.
  • TheInvincibleDragon - November 4, 2011 11:33 a.m.

That is one of the best stories and videos I've watched all day.
  • A9entOfChaos - November 4, 2011 11:09 a.m.

That was awesome for Gearbox to do that. Truly a sad story. Hopefully with modern medicine and a willingness to invest capital into research and new techniques we will one day not have to worry about loosing such a young person to cancer or anything else that tragically ends peoples lives.
  • mockraven - November 4, 2011 11:07 a.m.

Wow, that's amazing. While the story's sad (to say the least), it's really great that game devs are willing to do stuff like this for fans. I hope Michael got to hear this somehow, wherever he's at.
  • db1331 - November 4, 2011 11:22 a.m.

He's dead. He can't hear it. Obviously he meant quite a bit to his friend to inspire him to seek out Gearbox like he did. In the end, the best thing you can do for someone who has died is remember them fondly. It doesn't matter if you flipped burgers or you were CEO of a billion dollar organization, if you drove a Toyota or a Ferrari. If there's at least one person on this earth who misses you when you go, congratulations, you did it.

I get your message and I agree with it but did you have to be so blunt about it?
  • TheCakeIsaPie - November 4, 2011 12:07 p.m.

Yes, yes he did have to be so blunt. This is db1331 we're dealing with. If you're looking for discretion and class, look somewhere else.
  • db1331 - November 4, 2011 12:09 p.m.

Oh look. It's the president of my fan club.
  • sharkweek - November 4, 2011 12:52 p.m.

That was really touching and its good to see game companies reach out to their fans.
  • JachAnen - November 5, 2011 2:14 a.m.

I wouldn't give credit to Gearbox for this, we don't know if they did it of the goodness of their hearts (the story is good pr). But i will give credit to Carlo, as he has proven himself to be a great friend and one can hope to have a close friend like him. R.I.P. Michael.
  • Net_Bastard - November 4, 2011 7:24 p.m.

Actually, that would be his mother.
  • TheCakeIsaPie - November 6, 2011 4:36 p.m.

No, my mother is the president of Batman5273's fan club, thank you.
  • jackthemenace - November 4, 2011 12:06 p.m.

Wow. The most philosophical thing I've EVER heard on GR. Ever.

    Class act Gearbox, class act!
  • D0CCON - November 4, 2011 10:42 a.m.

What a great thing to do. I wonder if there will be a borderlands 2 easter egg like a Chris Houlihan room or something.
  • Ultimadrago - November 4, 2011 10:39 a.m.

    I love you, Gearbox.
  • CrashmanX - November 4, 2011 10:35 a.m.

*claps* Very nice. Very touching. I always love it when a company takes time to say things like this. Most corporations will just issue a "We're sorry for your loss" card (So to speak) but when they take time to do things like this, it's the extra mile that makes me proud.
  • ZhugeLiang - November 4, 2011 10:30 a.m.

Not sure how I feel about Claptrap giving us a Very Special Episode of Borderlands.
  • trevor-jahnigen - November 4, 2011 10:30 a.m.

Thats actually made me tear up alittle..
