First Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One gameplay footage

Sony has posted the first lengthy direct-feed video of Ratchet & Clank's latest outing on the PS3, giving us a much better look at the game's ambitious four-player co-op. And it looks like four times the regular madness and insanity of the last R&C title – confusing, overwhelming, and simply, totally Ratchet & Clank-like:

Developer Insomniac Games tried its hands at online Ratchety goodness with Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal on the PS2. The game was praised for online modes like Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, but its core storyline was relegated to the single-player game. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, however, is all about co-op, and is the first multiplayer Ratchet experience on the PS3.

Above: If you thought shooting ridiculously-named, over-the-top flashy weapons with one character was cool, try multiplying it by four

All 4 One will, obviously, be playable with up to four players. How is that possible in a game staunchly centered around just two characters? Two other characters, Captain Qwark and Dr. Nefarious, who have never been playable in the game's story mode, join the fray to complete the group. But who’s going to want to play as the unlucky third wheels? Or does that make four wheels… is four a party or a crowd? Either way, All 4 One won’t be out for about a year, so you have a while to think about it.

The man lied. He said the suck-cannony thing was a new weapon. Wrong. Suck cannon/ vortex cannon in R&C3. :D

They should never end the Ratchet and Clank series. Ever. Honestly this game looks really good.

It looks too chaotic! And the camera angle would mean laggers or solo-ists can spoil the game. Perhaps best for offline multiplayer where you can scream at your buddy in person. (but who has 4 controllers?)

This doesnt look like a Ratchet and Clank game. The weapons arent destructive and the aiming isnt the same. I would have preferred it if they kept the original mechanics and made it splitscreen like *sigh* Deadlocked did... But actually good. Change mechanics!!

I'm a strong believer that Insomniac needs to just stop. I love Ratchet and Clank games more than your average gamer, but they need to seriously wrap up the series. The game play is fantastic as always, but it is going to have to take drastic turns to keep the series fresh *cough party game cough*. I think the R&C series deserves a powerful game after this little experiment to finish off the amazing series. Maybe buy Spyro back? Oh who am I kidding, I'm still nostalgia-ing from the 15 best Playstation games. By that I mean I saw a Crash Bandicoot game on there and decided to be normal me and look it up on Wikipedia (I do this stuff all the time). I saw the Spyro/Crash crossover and decided to go to the Spyro page (I could do this stay on Wikipedia for hours, seriously). I nostalgia'd, hard. Then I raged at all the crappy games not made by Insomniac that I've played over the years. I then posted an angry comment on the Playstation list about why he doesn't have Spyro on there. End of story.
