Dishonored's 'Daring Escapes' trailer will make you really want to play Dishonored

It's really quite simple. We watched this trailer for Arkane Studios upcoming FPS action game, Dishonored, and came away with a powerful desire to sit down for six hours and play it. Thankfully we wont have to wait that long as it's heading to stores on October 9, 2012.

Putting aside for a moment the part where he slices a dude's head clean off; are you seeing the environments in this game? We were originally skeptical that Victor Antonov, the designer of Half-Life 2's iconic City 17, would be able to pull off another success of that magnitude, but from what we've seen so far it looks like he may actually be surpassing his own legacy.

Games looks really interesting and I hope when it comes out it can live up to some of the the hype or is generating. I plan on picking this up regardless because some of the things they are doing look really interesting.

I really wish I was as excited for this game as a lot of people are - I can't deny it looks impressive - but there's something about it that fails to get me pumped for it. I don't even know what it is either. I feel the same about Watch Dogs, MOH, Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed. Most of this year's big blockbusters really. Maybe I'm just suffering from action fatigue. Although looking over the comments here it seems I might not be the only one after all.

Dishonored's first trailer made me really want to play Dishonored. But this one was also very convincing.

    Can't wait.

Something about this game doesn't work for me. It looks pretty easy, which for me isn't usually a bad thing, but it seems to lack the finesse that makes 'easy' games like Assassin's Creed so much fun.

I totally agree with this... something about it just seems off. I hope I'm wrong but I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed.

I'm happy I'm not the only one who feels this way, yet disappointed that a vid could make it seem less thrilling with it's application of the powers. It's possible the story could still be thrilling and how you do things could still be fun... but it'll probably become boring if the innovation with those powers isn't there. Add portal style ...puzzle, and this becomes a stronger piece. So hopefully this vid is the failure and not the game.

So, I'm super pumped for this game, and I become more so with every video I watch or preview I read. However, I think some of the animations could really use some work. And the blood effects should really not be shown in slow-mo. It really highlights the fact that it's just blood spurting out of whatever texture happens to be there, clothing or otherwise.

"FPS action game"? I thought it was an RPG when I first heard about it.

Genre titles kind of suck at this point in gaming history. In the past you could call something an RPG or an FPS, but a game like Dishonored is an "Open World FPS action/adventure RPG." So we do our best to shorten that up lol. I think "FPS action" does pretty well. So many games have "RPG" mechanics these days that I've stopped calling things RPGs just because they have levels or skills. It doesn't mean what it used to.
