Deus Ex Human Revolution Director's Cut goes multiplatform

Square Enix has revealed plans to release Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac. Prior to the announcement, the upcoming special edition was a Wii U exclusive featuring various improvements over the original August 2011 release.

Eidos Montréal general manager Stéphane D'Astous said: "After our Director's Cut announcement we received an overwhelming response from the community asking us to bring this ultimate edition of Human Revolution to other platforms. We're thrilled to accommodate that request. We can now say with pleasure, 'You asked for this!'"

Square Enix announced the game in March, when it said that it’ll offer “overhauled boss fights, refined game balance and combat, improved AI, and striking visual improvements which make this edition the best looking and most immersive Deus Ex experience available”.

It will also include the entire Missing Link DLC chapter and former pre-order bonus mission Tongs's Rescue, “a full slate of Wii U GamePad features including touch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and many other neural hub enhancements”, plus Miiverse integration. Square Enix has confirmed that Director's Cut’s touchscreen features developed for the Wii U version will translate to SmartGlass and Vita.

my comment "I totally agree on all counts" was in reply to db1331 - not sure what went wrong the page/thread

I'm a little annoyed since I JUST bought this on Steam and now they are releasing other "fixed" versions? Well, I do enjoy the Wii U gamepad and if they make use of it in an innovative way I may give it a shot.

Neat but otherwise Square suffers from a spreading infection called "Not having a spine for something called an exclusive"

I seriously hope they do a Trine 2 and either upgrade existing game+dlc owners for free or provide a cheap upgrade dlc to make existing editions into the director's cut, anything else would be a big mistake.

By "Overhauled Boss Fights", I hope they mean they are completely removing them. I played the game a good while after it came out, so I had already heard all about how bad the boss fights were. I went into it expecting them to be awful, but holy shit. I was not prepared. This had better be a free update for people who already own the game as well. No way I'm paying $20 or whatever to play a version with their "fixed" mistakes.

"We present to you a game that gives you total freedom to choose your path, and upgrade yourself according to whether you want to use stealth or brute force. Only don't concentrate on stealth because BOY will you be screwed the first time you end up in an enclosed space with a guy with a machine gun for an arm and seemingly infinite grenades to throw at you..." I wouldn't mind as much, but Human Revolution is one of the only games where I've actually got into the whole sneaky approach rather than wading in all guns blazing, then they throw pricks like Barrett in your path!

Forget Barrett,. Try fighting Nammir after you've had all your augs disabled. On a non-lethal stealth playthrough. On Hardcore difficulty. I stood there chain stunning him and switching to my fully upgraded mini gun that I trudged around with for the whole game, just so I could kill the bosses. The min gun took so long to spin up though, that I only had about a second or two to fire it before I had to switch back to the stun gun and stunlock him again. This went on for over an hour. If I messed up the timing, he would oneshot me. I finally killed him after about 5 straight minutes of stunning and shooting.

There was a preview back then somewhere where they showcased a bossed but there was barely anything "Overhauled" save for some tidbits maybe they mean MORE bosses

I totally agree on all counts
