Crytek and EA appeal to fans over Crysis 2 leak

Leaked torrent causes concern on Crysis 2 forum

It's been a rough weekend for Crytek. Late last Friday, an unfinished build of Crysis 2 surfaced on torrent sites across the net, heralding yet another victory for entitled, cheapass pirates while simultaneously making it harder for legitimate PC gamers to have nice things. Predictably, Crytek and EA are unimpressed.

%26ldquo;Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news,%26rdquo; reads the latest post on the officialCrysis 2 blog.

%26ldquo;We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22...Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.%26rdquo;

No one is saying who leaked the 9.22GB file in question, but thetorrent itself is said to be a near-complete version of the game that will be released on March 22nd. Its description reads, %26ldquo;This is the full version, but an early build, leaked to the network. You can run any level, there are rollers, etc. But it is visible that the beta %26ndash; some of the inscriptions are not final, etc.%26rdquo;

Not final? This is a travesity! Our deep-felt condolenses go out to all who downloaded this file for free only to be subjected to a sub-par version of a game that took a talented army of developers countless hours of toil and sweat to produce. Seriously though, cut the crap already; you're ruining it for the rest of us.
