Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 review

The second helping of Meatballs resembles the explosive ‘party in a box’ designed by inventor Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader): bright and playful, but also loud, messy and hollow.

The core concept of a ‘foodimal’ ecosystem found on Swallow Falls generates some madcap monsters – flamangoes, susheeps – and sets the tone for a Jurassic lark.

With a large supporting cast and rapid gag-rate, ingredients are generous. But with no real plot to bind them, the pile-up of chaotic chases, repeat-on you leek puns and noisy dust-ups gradually kills the appetite.
