2. Introduction:

Hey! This is an FAQ about Diao Chan! I have wrote a couple of FAQ's
now so I should be getting the hang of it by now. But I'm sure
that there are plenty of nice people out there who will tell me what
I have done wrong. I will give credit to them for helping me.
Well I think I have said enough ( technically typed but hey )
so I hope you enjoy this FAQ and I hope that it helps you.

3. Story:

Descending from above, the evil Serpent King Orochi shattered time
and space to test his strength against the most courageous warriors from
Ancient China and Feudal Japan. Great armies fell, yet many are still
fighting for survival - and now the greatest showdown in history is
about to take place... ( Taken from the back of the game case )

5.a) Diao Chan: Who is Diao Chan?

That is a good question. Diao Chan broke apart the friendship
between Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo which ended up with Lu Bu killing
Dong Zhuo. Diao Chan returns in Warriors Orochi to help stop
Orochi. Diao Chan is a technique type character.

5.b) Diao Chan: History

Diao Chan was a servant in Wang Yun's household. She was said
to be extremely beautiful, and clever as well, talented at singing
and dancing. She came between Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo and
had Lu Bu kill Dong Zhuo. This woman did exist but they did not
know her real name.

5.c) Diao Chan: Overall story involvement

Diao Chan is trying to defeat Orochi. This is hard for her as
Lu Bu and Dong Zhuo are fighting for Orochi. There is not much
to put here as she is unlocked through a gaiden and isn't in many

5.d) Diao Chan: Changes

Diao Chan is pretty much the same as she was in Dynasty Warriors 5.
They have made some slight changes though...

She cannot shoot arrows anymore.
She has an R1 special now.
Her SSSSST Move is changed, instead of sending out tiny whirlwinds,
she sends out light.

That's all.

5.e) Diao Chan: Moveset

S = Square  T = Triangle

Standing Attacks:

S = Backflip. ( Moving )

SSSSSSSSS = A series of mace attacks.

T = A sliding kick along the floor.

ST = One mace attack followed by a jumping vertical mace attack.

SSTTT = Two mace attacks, followed by a series of mace
attacks finished with a flip attack and a vertical mace attack.

SSST = Three mace attacks, followed by another mace attack and
a kick.

SSSST = Four mace attacks, followed by a vertical attack with a

SSSSST = Five mace attacks, followed by her attacking with
both maces and light shooting out of them.

Musou = A series of jumping kicks, finished with a flip mace

True Musou = Exactly the same apart from at the end she does a
backflip and a barrier shoots up from the earth around her and
hurts the enemies near her.

Jump Attack = Swings one mace.

Jump Charge = Does a forward flip and charges downwards attacking
the enemy.

L1 = Block ( Not Moving )

L1 + Left Analogue Stick = Block ( Moving )

R1 = Since Diao Chan is a technique type, she can use R1 for
many things. When an enemy hits you and you press R1
she will counter attack, when you press R1 she will do her
special move, when you press SR1 - SSSSSR1 she will do her
normal charge attacks. just much quicker. All of these will
consume musou.

Mounted Attacks:

T = The horse rears up and attacks the enemy ( Not moving )

T = The horse jumps and lands, hurts the enemy ( Moving )

SSSSSS = Attacks to her left and right simultaneously.

ST - SSSSST = Attacks to her left and right simultaneously,
then attacks with her maces left then right.

Musou = The horse charges forwards with a barrier in front of it,
it hits anybody in it's way, while Diao Chan attacks to her left and
right simultaneously and quickly.

L1 = Block ( Not Moving )

L1 + Left Analogue Stick = Block ( Moving )

5.f) Diao Chan: How to unlock her

Unlocking Diao Chan is very easy
First of all do the Wei Story.
When you unlock Gaiden 5, do it.
This is the battle of the Five Gates just in case you have the
wrong one.

Here is what you have to do...

You will have a long battle map. All you have to do is meet up with
Diao Chan within 6 minutes from the start of the battle and make
sure she survives.

5.g) Diao Chan: Why use her?

This is a good question! Why should you use Diao Chan?
Because I said so... Not really.
Because she's very powerful, in Chaos mode her T move will
get you out of many sticky situations as you can dodge arrows
with this move, her moves look good and with the right
attributes on her weapon she has the potential to become one
of the best characters in the game!

Just give her a try!

5.h) Diao Chan: Who works best in a team with her?

That's really a matter of opinion on who works best in a team with her...
but if you build up Lu Bu, then he's good with her...
Hideyoshi is great with his special move, she's slow but with his
special, you can imagine how much quicker she will be.
Or you could just choose whoever works best for you... your favourite
character, or your strongest character, it's entirely up to you!

Oh on a side note... Hideyoshi is good with Diao Chan, but I have to
admit, his voice is very annoying so don't let that stop you from
using him, although it nearly stopped me from using him.

Here are some of the teams that I have used...

Here you go:

Team 1

Diao Chan, Kunoichi and Hideyoshi

This team is really good, Hideyoshi's buff works great on Diao Chan
as I find her moves to be quite slow. Kunoichi, if you have built her up
can really help with her R1 special, especially on Chaos mode. Read
below how to use Diao Chan.

Team 2

Diao Chan, Lu Bu and Hideyoshi

This team is really good too. As I've said before, Hideyoshi's buff
works great on Diao Chan, Lu Bu is there to add a bit of muscle.
Lu Bu's attacks are really powerful if you have built him up and
his R1 special is very powerful and will help, especially on the
harder difficulties. Read below how to use Diao Chan.

Team 3

Diao Chan, Da Ji and Hideyoshi

This team is great. As I've said before, Hideyoshi's buff works
great on Diao Chan, Da Ji is there because her attacks are great
and her R1 special is very powerful and can kill generals with
ease, even on the harder difficulties. Read below how to use
Diao Chan.

5.i) Diao Chan: How to use her

Diao Chan is a very easy character to use. All of her moves
are very easy to pull off. Even though her moves are very easy
to pull off, they are not all effective. Her T is great for getting out
of the way of arrows and will really help on Chaos mode. Her ST
is an okay move if you like juggling the enemy. This is easy
to do.

Her SSTTT is a very good move, it is a big damage dealer if the
enemy is airborne and is easy to control, it is also very easy to
pull off and lasts for quite a long time. This move with her R1 is
deadly as she attacks really quickly with much more damage,
although that is very hard to control, getting even a couple of hits
on generals in hard mode will really weaken them.

Her SSST move is good too. If you are in a sticky situation, this
move will knock a good deal of enemy troops away. Her SSSST
and SSSSST moves are not very effective, as they have poor range
and poor attack damage. Her R1 special really isn't effective either
as it only lasts for a short period of time, it really isn't worth it.

Her SSSSSSSSS is very good and very easy to do. It's powerful
and will knock the enemy away. This can be quite good if you are
in a sticky situation.

5.j) Diao Chan: Recommended Weapon Attributes

First off I'm going to give you a list of the attributes, and what they do.

Here you go...

Fire: Sets opponent on fire with some charge attacks, good for the
earlier difficulty settings.

Ice: Freezes opponents with some charge attacks.

Bolt: Very powerful, with some charge attacks but 100%
guaranteed to happen. Very powerful, good for all modes.

Slay: Very powerful, does good damage against generals and
can kill peons in one hit, with some charge attacks.

Brave: Increases your attack strength against generals.

Flash: Breaks through the enemy's guard.

Air: Increases your attack strength when enemies are airborne.

Range: Increases your attack range.

Multi: Produces Clones when doing charge attacks.

Drain: Absorbs enemy's life.

Might: Increases attack strength.

Absorb: Absorbs enemy's musou.

Agility: Increases attack speed, all charge attacks.

Rage: Increases Strength, Decreases Health.

Thats all of them. All of these go up to 10, the attack goes up 20 and
you can have 8 slots.

Here's the weapons:

Weapon 1:

This weapon is great for general defeating. It's very powerful
and is quicker with her charge attacks. With this weapon
her T move is great.

Weapon 2:

This weapon is really good, especially if you like to juggle
enemies. It's very quick and will deal lots of damage.

It honestly doesn't matter which weapon you choose, they are both good.

5.k) Diao Chan: How to unlock her Personal Item

Unlocking Diao Chan's Personal Item is quite easy
First of all do the Wei Story.
The battle is Yamazaki, Story 7
Oh you have to be Diao Chan for all of this.
Bear in mind you can get this item on any difficulty setting.

Here is what you have to do...

Defeat all of the enemy officers except for Zhuge Liang and
Dong Zhuo, this includes ambushes and when Da Ji defects.
You have to make sure all ally officers stay alive and you must
at least achieve 100 K.Os.

The name of her Personal Item is Lu Bu's Comb for those of
you who were wondering.

5.l) Diao Chan: How to get a good 4th weapon

To get Diao Chan a good 4th weapon do this...

Get her to a level 80+
Get her Personal Item
Get her proficiency maxed
Get a good 3rd weapon
Now go to the Wu Story and go to Gaiden 4, Wan Castle. It doesn't
matter who you have in your team as you should only need Diao Chan
for this battle. Okay. Done? Do this level on Chaos mode! Yes
Chaos mode! There are 4 weapon boxes in this level. 3 in actual
boxes and 1 off of Pang De. This level really isn't hard. You don't even
have to make sure that the peasants survive.

Now that you have got the 4th weapon, it's time to start using it! Make
sure you have a lot of weapon fusion points. Because you are going to
need them.

This stage is great for getting everybodies 4th weapons. Just use
Diao Chan and get even the weakest character's 4th weapons!

5.m) Diao Chan: Name of Weapons

Here's the names of Diao Chan's weapons and their base attacks

Here they are:

1st Weapon

Base Attack = 8

2nd Weapon

Great Mace
Base Attack = 17

3rd Weapon

Base Attack = 34

4th Weapon

Base Attack = 68

5.n) Diao Chan: Abilities she unlocks

Okay, here I am going to put the skills Diao Chan unlocks, and how
she unlocks them.

Here is the list:

1. Focus - Increases musou gauge capacity.
Conditions - Defeat 60 enemies.

2. Speed - Increases abilities of Speed category Warriors.
Conditions - Defeat 70 enemies, including 3 officers.

3. Recover - Refills life gauge during battle.
Conditions - Defeat 100 enemies, while maintaining 50% life
gauge status, without performing any attack using the musou

5.o) Diao Chan: Glitch with her Jump Charge

Okay, well this glitch is good if you can get it to work right,
I don't really think it is a glitch but all I know is that she is
one of the only characters who can do it, since I have not played
with them all yet I don't know who else can do this.

Which stage to perform the glitch on:

Okay, I know only one stage which you can do this glitch on, I
have no idea where else you can do this as I found this out by
accident. The stage is Mikatagahara.

Here is what the glitch does:

Basically, in the mountain area, south west on the map, you can
jump up the mountain's with a little bit of practice. All you have to
do is run and jump at the mountain, doing her jump charge at the
top of the jump, if you've done it right then you should be at the top
this isn't really useful as you can get back up to where you were by
going up the slopes, but it is fun to do.

You have to make sure while you are doing it you are not touching
the mountain at all otherwise you will not get up. Hope that you
have fun doing this.
