Anyone who is familiar with the above chant is equally familiar with Genki Horiguchi, the charismatic wrestler from Japan's Dragon Gate promotion. Shortly after his debut in Dragon Gate (then Toryumon), Horiguchi became a mainstay on the company roster as a member of Magnum TOKYO's Do-Fixer stable. And when Horiguchi's hairline began receding, the fans started chanting "H-A-G-E" (Japanese for 'bald') at him. He managed to use this to gain cult popularity, and his catchphrase, "Who has called me hage?", is one of the best-known wrestling catchphrases in Japan. Genki Horiguchi would later go on to become a member of the Dragon Gate heel faction Muscle Outlaw'z, as well as perform in the United States for both Ring of Honor and Wrestling Society X. His match with Masato Yoshino, CIMA, Dragon Kid and Ryo Saito on Ring of Honor's 2006 Supercard of Honor won the Wrestling Observer's coveted Match of the Year honors. ======================================== ==SECTION 2: SKILL AND PARAMETER STATS== ======================================== SKILL ----- Real Name................Genki Horiguchi FPR Name.............................TBD* Promotion....................Dragon Gate FPR Promotion.................Azteca-Pit FPR Faction.....................Do Fixer Size...............................Small Class.............................Junior Height............................173 cm Weight.............................75 kg Gender..............................Male Birthdate.......................4/5/1978 Country............................Japan Rank...................................D Charisma...............................D Stance.........................Technical Fight Style.....................Luchador Return........................Technician Critical........................Finisher Special.......Over Turn (1-Hit Reversal) Recovery...................Medium (Good) Recovery (when bleeding)............Slow Breathing.........................Normal Breathing (when bleeding)..........Below Spirit............................Medium Spirit (when bleeding)..............Poor Neck Endurance....................Normal Arm Endurance........................Low Back Endurance....................Normal Leg Endurance.....................Normal Movement Speed...............Medium Fast Up and Down Speed............Medium Fast Ascent Style.........................Run Favorite Weapon.....................None * = This will be included in the next version of the guide. He's not going to knock your socks off with unrivaled awesomeness, but at the same time he stands as good as a chance as just about anyone of emerging as the winner of a junior tournament. As is the case with most juniors, his offensive strengths are in the Technical and Agility areas. Unfortunately these strengths are offset by glaring weaknesses in every other offensive category. The same exact thing applies to his defensive stats, plus he has low arm endurance to boot. So if you find yourself getting caught in repeated armbars, this is something you need to be concerned about. STRIKES Horiguchi's strike set isn't too bad, but low offensive parameters in both punching and kicking mean that you probably shouldn't focus too heavily on striking. The Flying Rolling Pin (which is a strike attack in Fire Pro Returns, but really isn't a strike at all) is always great to use as a surprise tactic late in the match. GRAPPLES With the exception of the Triangle Lancer and the Bull Poseidon, Genki Horiguchi's grapple set is fairly pedestrian, which is underlined by the fact that he has a Backslide Pin as his finisher. If you want to go with the fancier moves, it's better to whip the opponent into the turnbuckle and perform a corner grapple, where Horiguchi can set up a Reverse Tornado DDT or Iconoclasm. ====================== ==SECTION 5: CLOSING== ====================== In closing, I would like to thank Jason Blackhart for statistical information and Dave Fairbairn for moveset clarification.
