Call of Duty: World at War - Death Card Guide

Gone are the laptops of last year’s Call of Duty 4. Death Cards are this fall’s hottest searchable, and finding all 13 in Call of Duty: World at War’s single player campaign opens up a bevy of cheat-tastic tweaks which you can enjoy in the brand spankin’ new Co-op Mode. Death Cards unlock sweet stuff like exploding headshots, paintball mode, undead enemies, Vampire Skillz and much, much more. Think of them like those elusive Skulls in Halo 3, only nowhere near as hard to find... as long as you know what you’re looking for.

Above: Death Cards enable paintball bullets and exploding headshots!

Given that these are basically actual playing cards (stuck in the brim of a helmet sitting atop a vertical rifle) relative to the size of your soldier, you’re in for quite a bit of eye strain if you’re brave enough to go it guideless. But fear not, dear reader! We’ve listed the location of each and every Death Card. And along with a list of attributes, we’ve also posted a brief video to guarantee you can catch ‘em all in the first play-through. You’re welcome, soldier!

FYI: We’ve listed the Death Cards in sequential order with the single-player campaign. Tank and Plane missions (Blood + Iron, Black Cats) do not contain Death Cards. Oh, and we killed everyone before scouring for these coveted cards, and you’d be wise to do so as well.

 Card #1: THUNDER

Effect: Thunder: Headshots now cause enemies to explode!

Location: Semper Fi

Immediately following getting your gun in the opening cinematic, veer right and head into the first open shack. It’s a damned good vantage point - and looky there - your first Death Card! Enjoy it, this is one of the only times it’ll be this easy.

Effect: Enemies will take less bullet damage.

Location: Little Resistance

Once you’re facing the large Japanese bunker, tuck and run into the trench on your right. Exit the tunnel and dispose of your adversaries, practically unaware. In the very right corner of the large bunker, you can clearly see the Card standing in the brush.

Effect:  You’ll get explosive pistol rounds while downed.

Location: Hard Landing

Dispose of as many enemies as possible before running into the building. Before you pass through the structure and on to the outside, look for a small lantern barely lighting the darkened room. You should be able to make out the silhouette of your brand new Death Card.

Was listening to an old tdar so now I'm here. I remember getting a few of these by accident but they seems more difficult to find than the laptops. A guide is very much appreciated.

Cheating is an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others.

How do you use these cheats? It's not like COD 4 where you can select them in the options screen. Help.
  • nouse4anick - November 26, 2008 12:54 p.m.

infernolord, please do check your 'facts' before you go spouting off to the noobs. cod:ww is in face cod5, its the next in the series, so therefore it is cod5 as the last cod (modern warfare) was cod4. ANYONE that knows this is the 'true cod player'. Also, I would like to point out that not ever cod game has been developed by the same people. And, you CAN 'spray n pray' in cod5, it doesn't take any more skill than it does in cod4... in fact cod5 is a lot like cod4, but with much smaller clip sizes and more bolt action rifles. I just hope they fixed the problem with the multiplayer so games don't end when the host leaves. Now, quit ur bytching and get back to killing!

what does he mean by enemies back from the dead for the ace of spades card?? All the dead ones will respawn or enemies will become impossible to kill??

Thanks for the Guide, saves me alot of time looking for the cards I don't want... like most of them. Way to lame out. and for the fanboys: Call of Duty 5!
  • nightcrawler31 - November 21, 2008 10:19 p.m.

the cards are pretty gay, i mean wh would you even go to the trouble of getting some of them? i mean come on, hard head? flak jacket? the cards are supposed to be rewards, not punisments.

Thank You! I finally got the achievement.
  • Mikey0108 - November 17, 2008 9:15 p.m.

inferno lord, cod4 was much better then cod:world at war, it was also harder, i completed world at war in less than 24 hours this was on hardend, i am now about 1/4 way through on veteran. cod4 took quite a while, granted i got distracted by the online play which was also much better than world at war and finally the guns are hard to use at all... infact i think there much easier... cod4 was better in everything than cod:world at war, except that cod4 was harder to get the acheivments.

First off boo freeking who to all of you cry babys that are upset they are not "helping cheats" you want to mess around put the game on easy. second stop calling it cod5 because its not, anyone calling t cod5 is not a true cod player. And those of you that wine about how it plays just like cod4, we have the cod4 players to thank for that.If ypu have not figured it out yes Trayarch made the game but the makers of cod4 had there hand in it as well. you cant just take aspects of a game without premision. Lastly, I hope the cry babys that dont like WW2 games stay on cod4 becasue modern warfare takes less skill, you cant spray and pray in ww2 games like you can in modern the guns are not as good so you have to learn to use them effectivly. So take your crying elseware
  • shaunye - November 16, 2008 9:13 p.m.

why the fuck would they make cheats that give you a disadvantage???? so fuckin stupid!!!
  • Juggernaut140 - November 16, 2008 5:59 a.m.

You guys seriously think exploding into tires and a super high contrast are "fun"? Quit gaming now.
