Call of Duty Tactics: See a glimpse of the CoD RTS that never was
Third-person think-'em-up shelved in favor of explosions, yelling
Yesterday may have seen a potential Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release date teased – but for every CoD game that ends in millions of consumers buying the ticket and taking the (mustache) ride, Activision prefers to stay hush-hush on how many titles don't make the cut. However, Twitter's ever-intrepid Superannuation's come across footage from one such title, a cancelled strategic shooter from Vicarious Visions in the vein of series like Close Combat.
The footage was discovered in the portfolio of animator Steve Nelson – whose page, at time of writing, is down (insert your own Activision conspiracy theory here). We'll leave it to you to speculate as to whether a tactical CoD ranks among the saddest game cancellations of this generation or the worst games you never played – but if you're that desperate to play a game with strategic elements and World War 2 helmets, we're sure you can find one or two alternatives if you look hard enough.
