Brink 'Agents of Change' DLC confirmed for July, free to play for two weeks

Splash Damage has dropped new screens and an updated release date for Brink's upcoming DLC pack, Agents of Change. Originally scheduled to land this month, the developer has confirmed the content will arrive in “early July” for PSN, XBLA and Steam, and will be free to play for its first two weeks.

The Agents of Change DLC will introduce a pair of new multiplayer maps, the Founders' Tower and Labs; two new outfits; The Sad Punk and The Limey; two new weapon attachments, bayonets and weapon shields; and five new player abilities. Splash Damage has also announced it will be tagging on a significant title update featuring tweaks to Brink's online modes, AI upgrades, weapon modifications, and other issues which have been suggested by the game's community.

Here's a peak at what Agents of Change will bring when it shows up in the next few weeks:

So they have changed from a free DLC pack to just offering a free trial of the DLC. Now I know I'm not going to get the game.

Great idea, miserable execution. Sadly, I bought it on release, but I got some decent fun out of it.

@ Hankventure brink has a story?

The idea of a map pack 'demo' of sorts should be implemented by more games. We should be able to see if we like the maps before downloading them (and reviews aren't the same as playing).

This game was garbage. Good thing I did not buy this.

I still think Brink is an amazing game, no kill whoring, people actually play the objective, work as a team

Eh, already uninstalled. Way too boring after about 2 days.

I loved Brink, but making the DLC free for two weeks only is ridiculous. It is going to hurt sales more than anything. I know I am not buying it. I am pretty sure this is all because of the strict 360 DLC terms. Why don't they make it free for PS3 players and PC players. Let the game gain some fame on other platforms to pick up the slack of the 360 version. Now no one is going to buy the game because if people are going to pay for DLC, they are only going to buy CoD DLC because it is what most people play.

But how many hats will there be?

Although not the best game by any means, I found this game to be quite fun for about two weeks. It's well done in certain aspects, but all the bad things people say about it are quite true. Does it suck? No, it's a fresh little title that needs to learn from its mistakes to make an awesome second game.

I draw the line at calling a 14-day free trial "two weeks of free-to-play."

Also, why all the hate? I've yet to play it yet (unemployment sucks), but I've read a LOT of reviews that make it sound pretty fascinating, if a little limited in scope. Yet, these comments make it seem like it sucks all the joy out of the universe - why so?

Explain "free for two weeks": Is it a sitch where it's available for free for a couple weeks, but everyone who didn't get it in that time is screwed? Or is it gonna be like shareware that turns itself off after the time limit runs out unless you fork over the requisite cash?
  • boondocks50 - June 24, 2011 10:36 p.m.

Brink was a combination of a bunch of amazing ideas that when put together failed miserably they need to go back and try again, because like i say to everyone brink was one of those games i didnt regret buying i just hated the fact that it wasnt good. im willing to give them another chance but fuck its gong to be hard.

Noone else pissed about the fact they offered the whole thing for free originally and now it's only for two weeks?
  • HankVenture - June 24, 2011 8:50 p.m.

do these maps also come with cutscenes that carry on the story? if so then count me OUT! :D
  • db1331 - June 24, 2011 6:17 p.m.

Just checked Steam stats: 65,300 current players for TF2 vs. 785 for Brink. It's dead, Jim.
  • db1331 - June 24, 2011 6:15 p.m.

I thought this game was dead already. Nobody is going to buy it now that TF2 is free to play.
